    Glenn Frey Dies At 67

What a shame. Lemmy, Bowie and Frey all in the same month. Terrible loss for the music industry.

I've really been into the Eagles music the past few years, so this one truly hurts. Glenn really was the driving force behind that band.

My dad was big on The Eagles and I remember many mornings being driven to school listening to "Take It Easy" and "Tequila Sunrise"

Last 2 songs I heard on my run today (before I heard the news):

          Take It To The Limit
          Heartache Tonight

"History of the Eagles" is a must-watch for anyone that's a fan of the band, or just a fan of when bands/artists were truly stars and larger-than-life.

This is terribly sad. The Eagles are the only band I was able to see at Red Rocks while living out in Colorado.

I remember there was a group of about 8 hispanics in front of me that didn't speak a word of English but they knew every word of "Take it to the Limit" and sung it very well (to the degree that I couldn't hear the Eagles but that was okay).

Most don't know the story behind "Take it Easy" but this was written by Jackson Browne but he couldn't figure out how to finish the song. Frey was his neighbor and Browne knew he was in a newly formed band so he passed on what he had written to him.

Some people say they were direct neighbors (one upstairs, one downstairs) but I've never found anything to confirm that but either way Frey was able to finish the song and Browne was happy to give it to the Eagles to release as their first single.

Watch "History of the Eagles" (it's on Netflix) and you'll get the full story of the living situation between Frey and Browne. That is a really cool story with how the song came to be.

Yeah, if people were lucky enough to see them on their last tour of the past few years, the story is repeated in concert too.

The first part of the concert reminded me of the old storytellers on MTV that VH1 has been pulling out with Bowie.

It's interesting to see how hard-nosed Frey had to be in that documentary (which you should see as a music fan if you haven't yet). But respect him for that. As I've said before, the Eagles helped me through the one-hit wonder 80's, which I generally loathed musically. R n R HOFer for sure.
