Just stagger like I do. The content doesn't disappear so you aren't missing out on much by not being signed up for a couple weeks here and there. You can usually coordinate that you get 2 PPV's per subscription except for December/January really and maybe one other time in fall. Spend maybe $60-$80 in a year instead of $120 and still get the main benefit: PPV.

You can go to their site and type in your zip code, will show you the packages in your area.
I bought the same antenna. Hookup was simple and picture comes in crystal clear.

        Re: Cable/Satellite To Expensive. Alternative?

I'm in process of setting up my antenna.

I just got my cable/internet down to 167 (100 for cable and 2 DVRs) for 12 months, so considering I'd have to up my internet to the next tier (i currently pay 67 for internet) I think we'll stick with cable for now.

I was going to add Sling TV, Hulu, and maybe CBS. That'll run me 40ish bucks, so it ends up being close enough that it's just easier and more convenient to stick with cable for now. I was also going to have to buy some cheaper cable boxes that can record shows (or Tivo) so that adds to the cost.

I still want to do my antenna though and be ready for if I ever need/want to cut.

Only $460 to get out of my 1.75 year contract with Dish. I'll be switching to PSVue

I only use a antenna for basic channels, my xbox for Hulu and Netflix and all I need is NBA and NFL packages and I'm set. Although it sucks to be a sports fan without cable.

Cable sucks and is too expensive.

I hate the idea of being beholden to streaming stuff.

Still no viable substitute for traditional TV. I want to flip the TV on and go directly to whichever event/channel I'm going to be watching without having to worry about loading, buffering, delays, quality, or any other garbage like that.

I also like flipping between channels with ease and scrolling through a guide to see what's on. I get much more joy out of seeing a show I love and saying "AWESOME! It's _________ episode!" or "Sweet! Haven't seen this movie in forever!" than actually picking something out. Not particularly an "on demand" type of guy in that regard.

I've had buffering issues maybe 3 times in a month with Vue. As long as your internet is powerful enough, it's fine. I've had more buffering problems with MLB.tv than I have Vue. Quality is great as well.

Although you lose the flipping channels like I said, there is still a guide, especially for you since you'd get locals on it in LA. And hell, my TV even has a guide for OTA channels. That's the benefit of digital.

                    Re: Cable/Satellite Too Expensive. Alternative?

I've been without cable for a year now it was getting to expensive . I'll pitch in .

                    Pros
                    • I really don't miss it that much lol
                    • probably one of the best decisions I've made
                    • I've picked up other habits (workout more , read more , cook more etc...)
                    • saved a ton of money actually more than I expected
                    • got more school work done and timely

                    Cons
                    • I miss a good bit of sports (ways around this ).
                    • streaming sports leads to a lot of buffering, blackouts , and just "unavailable at this time " moments

But I really recommend cutting it . I don't see myself getting cable back no time soon .

Seems like getting the new Amazon Fire Box is a good way to go & just download the apps with the channels you want to see.

If you sign up with Sling they'll give you $50 towards the Fire Box.

I had sling before. Wasn't impressed at all.
