    Jason Bourne

Has it really been 9 years since Matt Damon was in a "Bourne" film?

This trailer feels very "hollywood" and also, where's "Extreme Ways by Moby"?!

Love the films and loved the books.

Someone could make a whole new trilogy off the books as they are very different from the films.

I've read some poor reviews of the books. If I love the movies do you think the books are similar enough that I would like those too?

The first one was good, but felt kinda slow at times. The movie is similar to a point, but it definitely goes off on it's own for the most part. Book isn't expensive. So start with the first and go from there. I've never found the time to read the 2nd or 3rd yet. A new author took over after that and then you might see why there are poor reviews.

Not the most favorable of reviews just yet on RT (66%), considering Ultimatum came off a 93%.

No matter for me, any fresh tomato means someone liked it, and that could very well be me absolutely loving it! After all, it's still above The Bourne Legacy, though it didn't get any extra points missing Matt Damon & Paul Greengrass.

No pre-screenings in my vicinity, but I prepped with a marathon of the first four Bourne films and want to try and hit up Thursday night if at all possible.

I thought the first two with Damon were underrated by Rotten Tomatoes (83% and 81% respectively) but quite frankly this is disappointing. These are basically the same critics that gave The Bourne Ultimatum a 93% so they're seeing a drop-off.

I agree, Identity and Supremacy are also fantastic. I prefer the directing style Greengrass gave compared to that of Liman, but I thought the directing styles "fit" the films they directed too (so I wouldn't prefer Liman for Supremacy or Ultimatum, and the same for Greengrass and Identity).

Anyway, I tried to read their review highlights, and it seems most are kind of in the: "What did we wait nine years for?" kind of thing.

I've also been avoiding trailers, but based on reviews it also might seem like the whole "I don't know who I am" portion is gone, which to many was the lure of the original. Once it got to the end I didn't much care one way or the other, I was just interested in what they put on screen.

I think The Bourne Ultimatum was a perfect example of why not all books can be written as movies or vice-versa. So much of the run-time was comprised of low fidelity chase scenes and operators talking to each other. It's kind of a hard screenplay to write really, because a lot of it isn't on the page or even could be ad-libbed by professionals on screen. And it was magnificent.

Still hopeful this will be great, but this did diminish my hype slightly.
