The only thing about the movie that should be remade were those ridiculous orange monkeys. Everything else was great the way it was. What's next the dead poets society starring Nicolas cage?

          Don't give Hollywood any ideas!

Yeah I agree, this is a movie that DOESN'T need a remake. It's weird how The Rock is the go-to guy for remakes. Let's see he's done Walking Tall, was in Get Smart and while not a remake but more of a reboot in Race to witch Mountain. His movie Snitch is an adaptation of a PBS Frontline documentary!. He was in GI Joe: Retaliation, Jem and the Holograms and stars in Baywatch. He is also attached to a remake of the old '80s video game Rampage as well.

The Rock should be thanking his lucky stars that Hollywood is so bankrupt with ideas.

This movie could make a billion dollars, and get Rock and the movie Oscars, and I still wouldn't see it. I wasn't blown away by the first one.

I am tempted to ban the OP and delete this thread for even starting a thread that would suggest a Robin Williams movie was being re done.

I hope who ever thought of this idea in Hollywood got a receipt from the Devil for their soul because even he is going to be pissed.

I wouldn't call Get Smart a remake and like you said the Rock had only a bit part. I actually liked Carrell in the role and thought he was a great modern day fit.

But the Rock re-doing a Robin Williams role? Stretch isn't even the word for it.

I agree with everyone else. You can't beat the original. I wonder if they will come back out with the board game. I assume they don't sell it anymore.

Next Mrs Doubtfire starring the Rock. Seriously though. I would have respected the Rock much more as a professional if he stayed a wrestler. Being a C list actor isn't even worth it.

                        Re: Jumanji

I mean Jumanji may be a guilty pleasure that I'll watch every time ABC Family airs it, but let's not make it more than it was outside of the brilliance of Robin Williams and David Alan Grier.

I think that with what Favreau was able to do with The Jungle Book on a visual level, this adventure could be something that kids today would look forward to watching, with 3D and everything else involved. Would this be a film I would want to watch? No. Kids know who The Rock is though, and probably couldn't care less about Robin Williams.

This movie is probably a right decision, even if it doesn't out-act the original from the lead and even if it doesn't completely separate itself from the other fantasy films out there. Unfortunately, to me, every single one of them are run-of-the-mill and not ones that I much care about. I simply have outgrown them or they are not my taste.

This isn't any more damaging than remaking Point Break, never mind Memento.

From the imdb page: A "re-imagining" of the 1995 film, "Jumanji."

Also forgot mention this in the OP. Kevin Hart is going to be the film as well.

Looks like Rock and Kevin Hart are teaming up more and more. There's a movie coming out this year called Central Intelligence with both of them in it.
