Re: 2016-2017 TV Season
Ratings were fine until CBS starts messing with premiere date, air times and all that. Not to mention past few years it was relegated to Friday night death slot. And hasn't aired an episode in like 10 months until a random bump up in premiere date on a show filmed a year ago.
It's also expensive to produce. All the flights, gas money, hotels, rental cars, paying to use certain locations in each country and so on, costs lots compared to Survivor for example using cheap locations on an island with barely any food given to contestants.Comment

Also Hawaii Five-0 can't be doing that bad either considering it's on its 7th season and got picked up for an 8th. And has been in that 9pm slot ever since it started.

I'm happy that Kevin Can Wait, Man With A Plan and Superior Donuts have been renewed. It's nice to have a nice Monday sitcom block to look forward to again.Comment

Might play catch up with Superior Donuts but can't get into Man With a Plan.
Leah Remini will guest star in the Kevin Can Wait two part season finale on May 1st and 8th.Comment

Ditto on Man with a plan. Might check out Kevin over the summer.
Happy with Superior Donuts. Not the most amazing show, but makes me laugh and like something a little different than the other types of comedies nowadays.
MacGyver got another season too...we recorded it but haven't gotten far. More likely to check it out now.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: 2016-2017 TV Season
Agree on both fronts. I had the luxury of knowing it had a second season before I started watching. I went through the first eight episodes yesterday.
EDIT: Wow, what a season finale.Last edited by JayBee74; 03-31-2017, 10:48 AM.Comment

Re: 2016-2017 TV Season
Watched the baseball-themed comedy Brockmire on IFC with Hank Azaria and Amanda Peet. It's about a drunk baseball announcer that fell off big-time and is trying to reclaim himself.
Pretty funny. First two episodes premiered. A bit cliche in a few ways that I really don't like but a good start. Made me laugh quite a bit.
I hope this doesn't die like Benders on IFC did. That show was great.Comment

TBS's Search Party is really good. It stars Arrested Development's Alia Shawkat (Maeby) and gets a 100% RottenTomato rating and "universal acclaim" on Metacritic.
Shawkat's character is obsessed with the disappearance of some girl (Chantel) that she barely knew in college, but who she found to be very nice, while her boyfriend and two best friends offer half hearted support.

Azaria has the announcer cadence down perfect, using it in real life situations was goldWatched the baseball-themed comedy Brockmire on IFC with Hank Azaria and Amanda Peet. It's about a drunk baseball announcer that fell off big-time and is trying to reclaim himself.

Re: 2016-2017 TV Season
We finished the HBO miniseries Big Little Lies this morning. I put it right up there with the first season of True Detective in terms of quality. Should see some Emmy nominations come award season. I just hope HBO has learned from past mistakes and does not force a second season.Comment

True Detective 3 appears to be in the works. If so it will probably air in 2018. This has not been officially confirmed but some specifics have been mentioned, like writer David Milch (Deadwood, John from Cincinnati and Luck) helping Pizzolatto out with the script. We finished the HBO miniseries Big Little Lies this morning.
