Point definitely taken on that one there.

I really looked up to Ali. The way spoke for what he believed in and didn't take no BS from anyone .

R.I.P. to America's...correction, the world's greatest sports icon.

Ali, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, Kareem, John Carlos, Tommie Smith, Arthur Ashe, Curt Flood....growing up, they were my sports heroes. Real men, who didn't suffer fools, and who had guts to take a stand.

I still remember the atmosphere surrounding Ali-Frazier 1 - it was intense. Everybody was talking about it - even the nuns at my school.

I must be the only person in the world that didn't like the guy. Boxing was so crooked back then and still is. He knocked out a guy without even hitting him. Come on man!

I think the biggest thing I didn't like about him was that he was a draft dodger. Now days in a time when everyone criticize's people for doing that back then, yet no one says a word about Ali doing it.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think we should make a hero out of someone like that.

So the second biggest thing you didn't like about him was that he was a fraud as a fighter? (Boxing was so crooked back then and still is. He knocked out a guy without even hitting him. Come on man!) By the way, he HIT Liston.

And as for the "draft dodger" comment Ali followed the letter of the law in filing as a conscientious objector and would have had to face jail time if the Supreme Court had not overturned the lower court's decision. Until that ruling it seemed that Ali's actual beliefs were secondary to the government's desire to incarcerate him.

When Liston went down Ali yelled at him to get up because no one was gonna believe that. So when that is said I tend to believe he took a dive. Also Liston himself said that he was visited the night before by three Muslims that told him to take a dive.

As for the draft dodger thing, yeah he did it legally, but he still dodged the draft.

I should add I don't think he was a complete fraud as a fighter, I just think the bigger fights were fixed and still do to this day to a point.

Yes, lets not make a hero out of somehow willing to put their fame and fortune on the line by standing up to power and authority for something he knew in his heart (and the hearts of many of us) was unjust and didn't warrant involuntary enlistment.

Yes, lets not make a hero out of the man who decided to flaunt himself with his talents, open his mouth, and speak his mind when his fellow men were literally being dragged through streets and being beaten and killed for doing exactly that.

If you think it I guess it's true (sarcasm), but if you're not a boxing fan how would you even have enough interest to decide which of his fights were fixed? Besides Liston II the only controversial outcome was his fight with Jimmy Young, which was small enough to be broadcast by ABC.

I'm just curious, do you know why he refused military induction?

                                Do you, do you really?
I just read a 100 page article about Ali's life and most people have no idea some of the reasons why.
Did you know he scored a 78 on the IQ test the Military gave him?
78 is border line mentally ********.
He also knew by scoring this low his only option would be to be on the front lines as an infantryman, which would probably mean he would be killed.
Some say he scored low on purpose hoping the military would not take him, he has denied this many times.
