Just look at it as one fleshed out 8 hour movie. Then it is even more awesome, lol.

        It's a Netflix "series", although it plays out like watching an 8-hour movie (8 1-hr episodes). It's a suspense/horror/thriller/sci-fi set in 1983...and it's amazing.

It's like every good eighties movie wrapped up in one with some amazing acting and great music.

Not over the top. More, 'enigmatic/mysterious' type, more so than straight up 'horror/thriller'.

Has shades of a lot of 80's films. ET, Goonies, Aliens, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc..

I would say more in the middle of them. Not as scary as Alien/Aliens, but not as tame as ET either.

Are you mostly worried about jump scares? I think you're gonna be fine, the show is fantastic.

Yeah, I'm a horror fiend and didn't find anything outside of two or three scenes "scary."

Just finished this last night. Loved every hour of it and thought all the actors, especially the kids, were amazing. Eleven really stood out for me, with Dustin coming in second. I gotta mention the music, since it was just SUPERB. The cover of "Heroes" at the end of the third episode really brought all these emotions out.

                          This is pretty eerily.

I just re-watched the season last night. I am typically pretty "nit-picky" with this stuff and even I really can't find too many things to criticize. I maybe have 4 things I can say are "gripes" and they are all very minor.

Got my wife hooked on this. I have to say I enjoyed re-watching the first couple of episodes myself. My nitpicky thing was putting a clip of Jefferson Airplane's Go Ask Alice in at an intense point.

Really like the guy who played the sheriff. Would like to see some of his other stuff.

Addendum: People had mentioned in the Netflix thread the throwback/tribute to some particular things. I don't think this one was mentioned:

I just finished watching the last episode last evening.

What a great ride and I can't wait for the second season. The acting was phenomenal from top to bottom.

Did anyone catch the reference to Breakfast Club during the last episode?
