I think I'm going to move to Hulu live. It looks to have all the things I want that YTTV has and I won't be paying the $13/month separate for Disney+/ESPN+ that I am now

      Re: Cord cutting

Just found out that despite paying for some channels as part of my tv package, their on demand service isn't available because the tv provider is a competitor of the company who owns various channels.

Not that they've never been competitors before, but this is just getting more and more ridiculous.

You pay for channels, but you don't actually get everything that comes with that channel? But if you want to get the on demand part of it you must pay for it separately.

No wonder tv is declining. If you're jumping through hoops for the most basic of things, it's not worth it. Basic cable channels were supposed to be the most straightforward channels and even those are getting ridiculous.

I stopped YouTubeTV earlier this year. Last year, I stopped it after Sixers got knocked out of playoffs. This year, I stopped a couple days ago. I'm the only one in household that really used it and it mainly was for sports. Football season is winding down and don't have faith in Sixers doing much lol. Luckily for me, Tubi is streaming the Superbowl for free. There have been rumors for past couple years that NBC Philly is coming to Peacock and I saw reports NBC Philly is supposed to come over first half of this year. If that's the case, I'll get Peacock

In theory, I would probably restart YouTubeTV in late August. But ideally, I want to avoid it if it's mainly going to be for sports. I'm just mainly concerned about Eagles and Sixers. If NBC Philadelphia comes to Peacock, then that settles Sixers for me. I have CBS through Paramount Plus(thru Walmart Plus). So, I just need Fox Sports. I wish Fox Sports was apart of some type of bundle. I wish that Venu Sports proposed bundle didn't get scrapped. It was supposed to be ESPN, Fox Sports, WB, and TNT and was supposed to come out late last year. But, there was too many hurdles. That would've perfect for me. That would've covered most of the major sports.

I'll suspend YTTV after the Super Bowl, and the evaluate our options come next football season.

I anchored all my ancillary services that I could (just MAX atm) to Amazon Prime to keep them all easily accessible for the rest of the family last year so making YTTV itself one of those optional services.

NBC Philly coming to Peacock solves a LOT of streaming problems for me. That regional network is the THE reason I go for Fubo or YTTV over a half-the-price option like Sling. That would be a nice cost-savings. I actually prefer Sling’s lineup to the other services too, just got killed without the regional sports network.

It's been a rumor for a couple years. But, I've seen reports that it's slated for first half of 2025. That would also fix a lot of issues for me. Peacock always goes on a big sale around Black Friday. I believe it's $12 for a year around Black Friday. Ideally if Fox Sports could bundle with another, that would solve all my issues. But, I would be willing to try Sling for cheaper since Peacock would have regional sports

                Cord cutting

I got a pretty steeply discounted year of Peacock through Xfinity. Funny enough, my wife had somehow managed to sign up for HBO Max and Starz through the menus/search on Xfinity streaming, so I was with Xfinity trying to get those canceled when they gave me a fat discount (my promotional period ended a year or two ago and I was just eating whatever they were charging) and that Peacock offer, so I cut some extra crap (we use a friends Max login so doubling down was stupid) and saved some coin.

I’ve been using Peacock a lot more lately and it seems to be the go to for the newest movies when they hit streaming. Been watching that Traitors show on there.

EDIT: should note that what I’m seeing for rumors mentions Peacock might roll out an upgrade but include additional tiers for the extra stuff. I shouldn’t be surprised.

Even though my YouTubeTV sub stopped almost a couple weeks ago, I just realized I'm still able to watch some content on some devices. Usually, I always log on to every corresponding app along with having YouTubeTV on every device I have because sometimes the base app has better video quality or less broadcast delay. My YouTubeTV app obviously doesn't work. But, some of the base apps still have access on other devices. For example, on the ESPN app, if something is on the regular ESPN stream I can't watch it. But, if it is available on the ESPN3 stream, I can watch it. I seem to have more access on my wife's IPad compared to other devices. For the most part, I can still watch ESPN3, Fox Sports, NBC Philly despite not having anything. Not sure how long that might last. But, as long as I don't mess with the apps setting, especially TV provider settings, I might be able to catch some games.

The proposed merger would join two internet TV bundles that together have 6.2 million subscribers.

Hulu and Fubo TV are merging.

Rising prices AND less competition. Thank God I don't watch commercial TV at all anymore.

Sports are my main watch but it was nice to have some other viable options with YTTV and Sling. I mainly went with Fubo because it had regional sports to watch the Flyers, and also has MLB & NHL Network for the daytime watching/listening (NFL Network too but it’s widely available across services). Looks like MLB is also on Hulu Live TV but NHL is only with Sling and Fubo, basically the cheapest barest option and the most expensive option.

The quality of Fubo seemed worst too. Slower loading, dropping, etc. Sling and YTTV were pretty much flawless quality-wise.

Probably dropping down to YTTV to save a little bit of dough. I still can’t make sense of the price I’m paying for Fubo… it was right around YTTV, then added sports, added RSN and all the sudden it was like $30 more. 🤷*♂️

Everyone in pure cord cutting mode years ago and here I am sticking by my DTV through thick and thin. Even though they didn't deserve it! Calling every 6 to 12 months getting $70 off my bill and keeping it at $87.79 (with tax) a month for the 3rd highest tier, two receivers, and just use the app on the 2 other TV's in the house (fire sticks). I get my NHL/MLB packages through them as well, which just allows me to login on those apps and connect my accounts to stream etc.

Heck I even canceled it once when they wouldn't help me out, called back the next day and got an even better deal than what I had been asking/getting for years prior. Makes no sense, but have to play the game sometimes.

Been with YTTV for about 2 years. Just switched yesterday to DTV Streaming. I've been without baseball and hockey - minus illegal streams - for two seasons. With YTTV recent price increase and the cost of purchasing the FanDuel app subscription for Rays and Lightning games, it was just cheaper to switch to DTV Streaming which already has the RSN's I need. All that said, it is just like paying for cable again, but if I can finally stop screencasting my phone to my TV and get a quality picture with DVR availability, I'll gladly pay the price.

Has anyone tried this MySports Beta through DTV streaming?

I really only use YTTV for sports. It looks to have everything except local CBS which I guess could be rectified with an antenna. There's no SEC on CBS anymore so it's not a huge deal to me.

Saving $30 when I'm not using any of that other stuff anyways would help.

As dumb as it sounds, It's also good that it has ESPN News because ESPN doesn't properly schedule the timeslots for college basketball games so if you have a game coming on ESPN there's a good chance it's starting late and on ESPN News.

Canceled Fubo before the charge hit. Just heard of FanDuel TV… seems it’s the rebranded Diamond Sports / Bally, or associated in some way. Sounds like just a sponsorship now with an option to fold it in. Add another to the list. Don’t think it’ll be a viable option for me but good to know.

Probably going to YTTV later tonight to catch the Flyers games for the rest of the season. I’ll have to make sure everything is right since stuff changes so much. It took me some digging to find the ESPN+ stream of the game last night. I shudder to think what an older, less savvy person goes through trying to figure out what the hell is what with all these services and where to just watch their favorite team. It’s a damn shame how disjointed everything is. Even TheScore app didn’t list the service it was broadcast on. I almost gave up it was so buried in the listings on ESPN. ****ing disgrace.
