Having gone through The Wire with the wife I figured this would be a good follow up. Two episodes in and I forgot how hilarious the show starts off. The whole time Earn is in holding is surreal as **** - I hate this place.

All you can do is laugh, really, because that portrayal is probably accurate for a lot of holding cells unfortunately.
The "deal" with the Migos (or technically the "4" Migos) was gold. I feel a lot more indifferent towards Earn than I did in previous watches. Not really clicking with his philosophy, but I did love reporting the stolen card after the date lol.

He’s the one that kind of keeps the story going along BUT he was always the least interesting of the characters when it comes to personality. He just so happens to have funny awkward things happen to him.
Just watched the “Alligator Man” scene. Such a great scene.
The episode where Alfred is getting his haircut is comedy too. If you’ve even been to a black barbershop you’ll know what it’s all about. You could be in there all damn day lol.

Not sure I would go THAT far, but I can see your point. Personally, I think he's very interesting because he is trying to adhere to some nontraditional and unstructured way of living and providing for his "family", but the realty of the world is pushing back at him at every corner.
I "get it" and it is somewhat admirable, but then you remember he's taking advantage of Vanessa, his family, and his daughter by basically pushing them aside, or flat out ignoring them, to get whatever goal he's trying to reach.

We started season 2 last night.
"Who are you? The landlord?!" Tracy is hilarious - No chase policy and just dead eyes the store associate lol. I'm not sure what Earn was thinking with that gift card.
Season 1 ends on a high note and season 2 picks back up at the bottom again. Real life I guess. My wife asked me why did Earn not spend the night with Van or stay with Al & Darius. I couldn't answer, but my feeling was he just wanted to enjoy his win by himself for a little bit before the harsh reality of needing more came crashing down on him.Last edited by Fresh Tendrils; 02-11-2020, 11:30 AM.

Going back and rewatching this series from the beginning and the B.A.N episode is still funny AF followed by the Barbershop episode from S2 and the 3rd episode of S1 when Earn took Van out and didn’t have more than $50 in his account, lol.
