Re: Logan (2017)
I love this movie, even if it does ruin the 'happily ever after' Days of Future Past ending. My only complaint really is I don't see how it makes sense in the timeline..
Spoiler
Logan takes place 6 years after the end of DOFP. In that time, Charles has developed a neurological disorder, wasted away, and killed off the X-Men with one of his seizures. Ok, I'll buy that.
What I can't swallow, and there's no explanation for, why would Logan's healing powers so rapidly decline after being pristine for 200 years? They could have at least said that Logan survived the seizure, but it wrecked his body or that the poison in the food did it. Something.
And we're supposed to believe that there are no more mutants born in the last 25 years and almost every single mutant older than that has been rounded up and killed? Just seems like a lot to swallow.
I know it's dumb to complain about the X-Men movie timelines, but it bothers me because DOFP fixed that for the most part and then boom.
These days I'm less like "Jailhouse Rock" Elvis and more like "dying alone on the toilet" Elvis.Comment

LOVED the movie....Oscar noms for Stewart and Jackman, please.
Only real issue I had with it; how is it Logan can move during Charles' seizures? I don't see what the healing factor or anything else would have to do with that, and he had fine motor functions in being able to use a syringe during all that.
Otherwise I think it's spectacular, and I bought the whole issue with Logan's worsening conditionSpoilerin regards to adamantium poisoning...I could buy that it took this long to finally start wearing his healing factor down as he got older and olderGO 'HAWKS!

SpoilerThe adamantium was poisoning him. Since that was much more recent, it makes more sense that he's deteriorating now. There was a subtle hint toward that when the girl took him to that doctor. He said he knew what was killing him but there was nothing he could do about it.
As for the mutants, they mentioned something about the government putting an agent in corn syrup that stopped the mutant gene from being passed on or developing. I'm guessing the rest of the mutants that were alive were hunted down by the same group that was hunting the girl throughout this movie.

Re: Logan (2017)
I watched Logan last night. Wow. What a powerful and utterly brilliant film. Most certainly the most adult, brutal and outright honest superhero movie ever put on film. This is my favorite superhero film because it just really hits you in the gut and pulls no punches. Oh yeah and it has insane, just ridiculously brutal action..
It's sort of hard to explain how a comic book/hero movie can be "realistic" but this one is exactly that.
This movie deals with issues most comic book based films never would even attempt to address...growing old, being "washed up", alcoholism, deflection, fear of death, the idea of maybe death is a release via suicide, fear that you're not good enough and the overall theme that that maybe you really don't matter anymore and maybe you never even really did matter.. Really powerful stuff..
This isn't a movie about a hero saving the day, it's a movie about people just trying to save themselves. And yes I actually got a bit emotional in a few spots in this movie, and yes, I'm not ashamed to say I nearly shed a tear near the end. Just an amazing experience.
As soon as the show concluded I ordered the 4K UHD version from Amazon.
More comic based films like this please. Yes I know this is R-Rated but it still did over 600 million dollars so I think that's a "respectable" amount. The kids don't get to have all the fun.
The 4K UHD version will be here Saturday and plan to rewatch it with my wife who has never seen it.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
