RIP Ron Glass / "Barney Miller" and "Firefly"

Always liked Glass's Barney Miller character. His interchanges with Dietrich were great. Loved the ep where he and Nick got into a bet about quitting smoking versus quitting betting. Also, Glass brought the Black culture issues at the time to light in the show in a very impactful way. When I saw him in Firefly, thought that was pretty cool that he landed another fairly big role.

No question a trailblazer in Acting, and extremely versatile. From Wikipedia:

He had a guest appearance in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Nightingale". He was a series regular in the science fiction series Firefly (2002) and the sequel film Serenity (2005), in which he played Derrial Book, a pseudo-Christian[3] "Shepherd" with a mysterious past. Glass provided the voice of Randy Carmichael for the Nickelodeon series All Grown Up! and Rugrats, and the character Garth in the video game Fable II.

He had a great role in an "All in the Family" episode, playing a repairman.

I'm gonna have to check that out. Anytime Archie encountered a Black man in the series, it was a classic scene.

The All in the Family episode is "Everybody Tells the Truth" from 1973. That was his second TV appearance, after Sanford & Son's "The Card Sharps" episode (1972).
