I'd be disappointed if we don't get at least one solo Batman movie with Ben Affleck. I can't really picture anyone else playing Bruce Wayne at the moment - Ben just fits so perfectly.

Jake Gyllenhaal can literally transform into anyone. Don't know if I like him as Bruce Wayne, but he would be a hardcore Batman (ever seen Southpaw?).

I'd prefer we get a solo Batman prequel with Affleck, then in a future film he dies or retires and hands the keys to the Batcave to Dick Grayson (Gyllenhaal), who takes up the mantle.

Because it's the internet. People make **** up all the time. Maybe it was a hope instead of a possible choice in the works. I don't follow this stuff as closely as you and other do.

Personally I don't like the choice as much as I didn't like Michael Keaton either.

Regardless of who ends up in the cowl, the movie won't be an origin story.

It will instead be a "very personal and defining" story.

They should adapt a storyline from the comics like Hush.

Or use some of Batmans other villains like Black Mask.

I agree, except they're doing an animated Hush movie next year. And I'm pretty sure Deathstroke is still gonna be the main villain.

Deathstroke is more of a Teen Titans Villain than a Batman villain but they do have some history and have fought each other. I guess Black Mask is off the table now that he's going to be in the birds of prey movie.

Although I was against the "Dark Knight Returns" version of Batman being used for the integrated DC Universe films, I did enjoy Affleck as Bruce Wayne. I would say that he was my favorite live action Bruce Wayne.

With a new younger version, I hope that we finally get a complete package Batman portrayal. I know that there isn't enough time in movies to show everything, but I'd like to see the acrobat, master of disguise, and The Detective show up on film, I'm not hopeful though as movies basically have to be primarily about the fight scenes.

They've said The Batman will definitely be more detective-focused.

Also, Black Mask was mentioned earlier in the thread. He can probably be counted out, since Ewan McGregor is playing him in Birds of Prey.

I've heard that but with Affleck being out I dunno if they'll still go in that direction. I'd love to see a neo-noir Batman detective heavy flick though. Some are speculating that DC/WB may go towards a Batman Beyond type rendition this time out.
