Last I remember reading, Reeves was the one who wanted to do the noir/detective version of Batman, so I assume that'll still be the plan.

They're saying it's going to be a younger Bruce Wayne, so it most likely won't be Batman Beyond.

All I know is that for a hero with the nickname "World's Greatest Detective" it's a shame that aspect hasn't been shown on the screen.

Fantastic story. But I don't know if they'd want to go with a villain that isn't that mainstream for this reboot, unless they cast someone that can absolutely nail a performance like that.

Calendar Man is someone that could be used as a hired gun by a big bad, though. Like hiring CM to do these murders to mess with Batman.

If they want to go with a Detective Batman than they should adapt the Rogers/Engelhart run. It had political intrigue, an appearance by the Joker, a romance subplot with Silver St. Cloud etc etc.

That style of storytelling would be dark but not TOO grim.

The best story to do would be Hush.

Please no, It was a good story and all but it needlessly complicates Bruce Wayne/Batman/Gotham's backstory to a point that I can live with it in the comics but you don't want that kind muckety muck in the movies.

Sure we do. We've seen enough back stories tweaked in the MCU to allow some wiggle room with this.

                          Re: The Batman (2018)

A compelling choice, indeed. He's about to shoot a Christopher Nolan film, and after that I imagine he might start some diet and exercise regimens, heh.

For those who haven't seen what Pattinson has done in the past half-decade, you might want to check him out. He is one of the better under-the-radar actors out there, which is strange to say because you couldn't miss him when Twilight was around. Now that he does a lot of indie films with demanding roles, you really see his range and ambition in transforming himself to fit the character he plays. Anyone who doesn't believe me should start with a little movie called Good Time. You could tell me that's Robert Pattinson, and I still wouldn't believe you. He mesmerizes.

Which leads us to Matt Reeves' The Batman. Whatever he plans to do with the character may limit some aspects of the physicality and bring out more of the detective, but you also might meet a guy who literally epitomizes the craziness that Bruce Wayne actually is, a guy with billions of dollars who dawns the cape and cowl to jump off rooftops. It would be nice to get a protagonists with a little bit of psychopathy to himself, just enough so that we still root for the guy and can completely distinguish him from a Joker type outside of the morality differences. Would be nice to attack that mental side of it all, for sure.

I'm sold on the actor, but now it's time to see how the fit becomes.

He's also the youngest actor to play Batman. He's only 32.

Hopefully he is good but this just sounds like a Joke has he sounds like such a bad person to cast for the role and with how amazing the dark knight trilogy is its going to be very hard to like live up to those.

                                Care to reason with why?

And might I remind you that many also thought that Heath Ledger was a terrible idea for the Joker (there was also a separate undeserved outcry for Batfleck, but that's not in the teen heartthrob camp that I'm placing Ledger/Pattinson in). Not to mention that as great as the TDK trilogy is, another great few didn't comparatively love Christian Bale as Bruce/Batman either.

As I kind of alluded to in my previous post: if all you have seen with Pattinson involves anything regarding Twilight, you might want to broaden your horizons. You also don't know what route Reeves wants to take Batman. Then again, neither do I (which was the final point about my last post).
