She was the Princess that didn't need saving, but I really wish we could've saved her from this.

The Force is with you, always, Carrie Fisher.

**I really really hate this. Star Wars is such a big part of my childhood, and I feel like a part of me died too.

I hope they honour what she said in this interview.

Wasn't a big Star Wars fan, but her striking beauty (even by Hollywood standards) was hard to ignore. Hard to believe she was outlived by her famous mother. I can imagine Star War fans are devastated by this news.

Prince and The Princess is now gone. RIP Carrie. Can't count the times I've watched you as Princess Leia and watched a strong woman on screen. MTFBWY

I'm more of a trekkie but did like most of the star wars films. So sad to hear this, especially after it seemed she might make it.

As much as I liked Carrie Fisher for playing Princess Leia, I really grew to admire and respect her for her writing ability and willingness to openly talk about mental health issues.

Like many we've lost in 2016, she will truly be missed.

Star Wars HQ did a touching tribute vid compiling responses from the Star Wars family. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/aMY1d3_s_K0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Did her role as PL have anything to do with episode 8 or 9 ?

Nor have I seen episode 7.

Sorry, I'm only a very minor Starwars follower .

I'm just wondering if her death has any impact on future movies.

She had apparently finished all filming for 8 but what they do for 9 is up in the air now.

Oh. So her role is in 8 and 9 as well. Ok.

There are now reports that Fisher's mother Debbie Reynolds has been rushed to hospital with a possible stroke.

And just read that she passed away from that stroke. Debbie was at her Son's house planning the funeral for Carrie when she had a stroke and never recovered.
