    Re: Halloween 2018

I need to rewatch, but my take away from their "relationship" was that it's basically Harry Potter/Voldemort "neither can live if the other survives" type thing. I think it was the doctor who described it that way, but I'm not 100% sure.

It was a fun ride, but the movie didn't' really start for me until 45 minutes in. The podcast angle felt shoehorned in in-order to"reawaken" Michael.

The baby scene was an eye-roller for sure.

Does the grand-daughter take after Michael now? I thought I saw a gleam in her eye with the butcher knife in her hand at the end.

The foot stomp and that kid were really good. I should have known not to walk out before the credits, though I figured already he wasn't dead.

        Re: Halloween 2018

Supposedly the kid that played Julian was cast last minute and the whole scene with the babysitter in front of the tv was improv. Give that boy an Oscar haha!

He was all of us if we saw Michael Meyers in our room "OH SH*T!!!"

Though that scene was silly because he knew he saw a man in his room yet he let his babysitter play it off like he had a bad dream. He knew what was about to happen lol.

I'll emphasize about Michael and Laurie again. They wrote the movie this way, ignoring the sequels, so that these two WOULD NOT BE CONNECTED. The fact that Michael ends up at her house is just because the doctor took Michael there. Now internally is Michael thinking "Oh wow it's that girl I didn't get to kill. This is super!" probably, but I don't think he was out to get her that night. He was out to kill any and everyone.

I am fine with all that, other then I'm not a fan of the doctor twist that was just an excuse to get him to her, but what I don't like is this was NOT his behavior in the original:

In the original, he went home and then when Laurie came to his door he became transfixed, stalked her all day, killed her friends. In this one he gets back to his hometown and then just proceeds to kill anyone he comes across..

Oh and another left me scratching my head. The other reason they erased the sequels is to get rid of the supernatural elements. Like, this is just a man. Period. But then they open the movie with the guy claiming Michael can "sense the presence" of his mask. I mean, that scene was awesome, but I'm like what is this guy talking about? I loved that whole true crime podcast subplot though.

It's hard for me to separate or disconnect them when much of the movie's foundation was built on the mental health problems that occurred after Laurie's encounter with Michael and surviving. She basically passed it on to her child and grandchild as a family trait.

and then at the end completely flipped the script. Laurie out the window and vanishing, etc. So cool.

Took the afternoon off to see it during the day last Friday and was in a near-empty theater, which is my favorite thing to do with horror flicks.

Man...I can't say enough good things about this movie. One of the best horror films and remakes in a long, long time.

Was a sequel. Not a remake.

                Agree though. Excellent flick.

Yeah, given my new money-saving formula I'll get it next Black Friday when it's on sale.

I want to disclose that there are a good bit of problems that I had with this movie, and I'll talk them out when I'm ready to do so. Regardless, it is still easily my favorite Halloween that I have seen.

Do you know if it's HDR10 or Dolby Vision?

We watched it again after getting the Blueray.

We loved it again. Some plot holes of course but still a superb sequel and new timeline. They made a mis-step with the new “Michael Doctor” angle. Not a fan of it after a second viewing. But everything else about the film was damn good.

I still have Halloween 2 ranked with this one because of a few reasons, one of course is the nostalgia factor is so strong with Halloween 2 and the fact it took place on the same night. Also the cast was great and it had that classic John Carpenter feel.

Halloween 2018, Halloween 2 and Halloween 4 to me are in a class by themselves and are required viewing for this series along of course with the classic original.

It's been known for a few days now, but thought I would mention that Halloween Kills which was scheduled for October this year has been delayed a whole year until next October, which in turn will delay Halloween Ends another year after that.

Kinda sucks, but they did give us a little snippet of the beginning of the movie. And there are some now set photos as well.

I'm pretty bummed about it since I am basically a Michael fanatic, but I think they made the right call.
