And future sequels would be different stories (like Season Of The Witch) taking place on Halloween night.

But.....since another sequel is being made here in 2018.....why leave out Halloween 2? It was the best sequel in the cannon to begin with (along with Halloween 4).

Oh well......I am willing to let that go if this movie really kills it. And I have a sneaking suspicion it will be excellent. I am really jacked up for this!!!
Still not a fan of him doing that. I know he didn't want to do a sequel but he ended up being involved writing the story along with Debra Hill so for me it shouldn't be disregarded. I'm more inclined to disregard this new film more than 2 as that's the true sequel & always will be.

You really need to see 2 if you liked the original. It isn't really even a sequel, it's a direct continuation.

Yeah I tend to agree it's more of an extension of the first film. That's why I always say they are joined at the hip.

I don't disagree with you. Halloween 1 and 2 are timeless. And my favorite horror films of all time as they are truly joined at the hip as it takes place all on the same night.

I have a feeling though this new film will be outstanding. Hopefully it gives us an alternate road to enjoy the first film and simply choose which creative path we take for it's proper sequel.

I also loved Halloween 4. It was a great little sequel and one of the best in the series as well. It really had that "original" film ambiance throughout but updated (at the time). I was 18 years old when that one came out and it brings back great memories of high school. Then the series kinda went off the rails with the whole pagan mumbo jumbo. Yet....I still watch all the films (even the dreck known as Halloween Resurrection with LOL Busta Rhymes).

Zombies original reboot was outstanding. His follow up pure ****.

I'm still interested in the new film just wish 2 would be connected to it. Yes part 4 is a great sequel. I never did like either of zombies Halloween's & glad he's not doing anymore. Also just read that Carpenter could be scoring the new film so that's another plus. http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/john-ca...halloween-film

Money talks. If this movie is big, it won't be the last one.

The slasher genre is coming back. No doubt in my mind we will see more sequels/reboots to franchises like Friday and Nightmare. I've already heard Paramount regrets cancelling Friday, as they should.

And there are a lot of rumblings that a new Nightmare is in the very early works.

I agree with you. Friday The 13th has had two final's in there film's. The Final Chapter & Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday. These films will never go away. Sure maybe for a time but they always come back around in didn't forms.

Yep. Everything is cyclical. The slasher genre was dead and buried until the mid-90s when we got Scream. It died again in the early to mid 2000s, and now it's coming back with the new Child's Play, Halloween, Saw and I'm sure I'm missing some. There is a lot of money to be made with the iconic killers, ie Jason, Freddy, Michael. They are still relevant 30-40 years later. They are forever ladened into pop-culture.

If I had to bet, I'd bet on these movies coming back sooner than later.

In 1978, John Carpenter gave birth to Michael Myers in Halloween, a masked maniac hellbent on killing babysitters in the small town of Haddonfield, IL.
