    Re: Chris Cornell - RIP

The Singles soundtrack came out on vinyl this week. I have to admit to never seeing the movie, but I am familiar with the music and the bands featured therein. The album came with a bonus disc that is basically half full of Cornell and Soundgarden including two score pieces by Cornell.

I played the first side yesterday when it came in the mail. Once Seasons started playing I finally lost it and ugly cried for most of the song. Like eXperiment63 celebrity deaths never really affect me. Robin Williams was probably the hardest one to process before this, but I never really connected to his work on a spiritual level like with Chris.

I known Chris had issues with alcohol and depression. Listening to his songs the past two days with this in mind really drives home how much these songs spoke to his fans dealing with the same ****. Having to put on a fake face for public and basically not allow your true emotions to show is torture. I can't imagine living like that for 30+ years.

What I hope doesn't get overlooked is his ability to absolutely skewer the establishments surrounding him. So much was made of his ability to connect to our sense of isolation and depression that I feel like his songs like Gun, Power Trip, and New Damage get overshadowed.

I think you'd enjoy the movie; without question one of the best movies that came out during my Jr. High/High School years that captured the spirit of the era.

Watched the PJ20 doc (Cameron Crowe put that together, and he's the driving force behind Singles) and let's just say Mr. Vedder wasn't too keen on performing a show in support of the film's release.

It's one of those films I've had on my list to watch for years, but I've just never gotten around to it yet.

And Cornell's vocals....my goodness. His vocal range was something to aspire to. RIP

FT, I don't know if you saw this, I saw it floating around my FB newsfeed and thought you would enjoy it. It is a good read with a few NSFW words.

Chris Cornell died early Thursday morning. His band Soundgarden played a show on Wednesday night at the Fox Theater in Detroit. Two hours after the show ended, he was gone. For two days, I’ve been …

I was actually coming to post that. A friend of mine posted it to Facebook last night. Great read.
