It's like watching a Super Hero show on Netflix but you have to wait til the next episode. Characters are good, etc.

Maybe because I'm old and remember the comics and his characters was way before Static Shock and completely different.

Not to mention I've grown around gangs that were like this, minus the running the city stuff, but definitely the blocks we live on.

Either way I look forward to more, nothing wrong with Ep1 or 2, love the show!!!

    1. Too much talking and unnecessary drama

Taking too long to get to the actual action

    2. Trying a bit too hard - acting is cheesy in too many places

    3. Not enough action, im sorry but nobody cares about the ex wife chick and little daughter drama.. nor the characters

Why'd they choose old dude to be Black Lightning?

    Could be worlds better.

I don't see it appealing to this audience to be honest.

Co-sign Shadows. I like the show and it feels a bit more grown up compared to the rest of the cw hero shows. I do worry that it's approach may scare off the typically younger viewer that cw draws on leading to it's downfall. Real people dealing with real drama/issues outside of the suit is not something always touched on and I think it is trying to separate itself from the other shows with that angle. I hope this show can survive..

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Thanks brother, it just shows a guy with powers with real world problems!

And 23 asked why they chose a old guy, I guess people are overlooking that he was Black Lightning since the early days and now he has a family and more to lose.

The drama just equals more story and less unnecessary violence! If all he did was kill and fight people 40 mins through the episode, it would get old too quick.

Obviously people didn't watch the Punisher on Netflix that show lingered forever and had minimal scenes. But people still loved it!!!!

Don't get why this show is hated so much, for slowly building up all the characters in the show and the villains as well..

Nah i knew about the character history but what I'm getting at is this which i thin was hit on

THIS audience isnt looking for that, old black dude with drama people dont care about because they have zero connection with the characters.

The super slow build up almost killed Marvel Agents of Shield early on as well.

When watching this show i expect black lighting, not 40 minutes of principal jones and 5 minutes of BL.

How can you speak for the audience if people are actually enjoying the show!!!

            Guardian Review

From a middle-aged hero to its pointed commentary on the US and race, the latest in the superhero TV canon is a refreshing addition

Variety Ratings - Even said it's the second highest rated show behind The Flash

The second episode of "Black Lightning" on The CW held up well from the series premiere last week, according to Nielsen overnight data.

TV Guide - Twitter already loves it

Come on broham, people like the show, they said the drama is what makes the show good and gives it more to offer than a ordinary Superhero show and the supporting cast is what makes it great.

That's actually good to hear because I never wanted it to suck.

With that being said, if you reference my initial post I was concerned this show wouldn't be appealing and probably wouldn't last.

I can barely watch SuperGirl but between all of the shows so far this one is dead last of the bunch so far.

I know there is more to reveal, but this was just an initial concern with this particular DC super hero audience. Flash was also recieving negative comments last season when the show went too dark and drama, rather than the more light hearted seriousness it presents. The writers had promised to change that because people weren't feeling it.

The costume is such a stark contrast to the rest of the show thematically that it's kind of jarring. For me the super heroics are the least compelling part of the show. I don't dislike them, it's just that everything else is more interesting, IMO. I'm immediately invested in the characters though, because despite the centerpiece being a person with lightning powers there is authenticity and familiarity in all their stories.

I'm liking all aspects of the show over all but his suit could be a lot better. I know all the people around these Super Heros are fooled easily with secret identities ala Clark Kent/Superman glasses hiding the identity but I wish he would have a lot more on the head wear. Also again wish the suit looked a little better.

I don't know if everyone caught it in the last show when the younger daughter told her boyfriend that it hurt to try and look at BL's face, that it was like trying to look into a spotlight. That's a nice touch, but I could see the writers and producers forgetting that they put that in there.

Yeah I caught that too but I think the writers need to do a better job of making that more obvious in action. It could be something as simple as having the visual effect of a bad guy or citizen appearing blinded when trying to look at him. DC needs to give them some creative license with that suit though...

                          Re: Black Lightning

Sounds like the show has good odds of getting renewed.

I'm not gonna be watching it, but I just hope the show doesn't lead to any changes for CW going forward. Don't mess with the other 4 DC shows. Sucks that after the big crossover we had in November that there's only 1 week the following 5 months with all 4 of those shows airing together.

Valor seems to be most likely of all CW shows to be cancelled while all others look to be renewed. Perfect world would be moving Arrow to Monday(in Valors timeslot after Supergirl) and then Black Lightning takes over Arrows Thursday timeslot.

But if CW doesn't want 5 DC shows at once, I still think Black Lightning should be the summer show since it doesn't tie in with any of the others.

I was gonna bump this too. I'm glad I stuck it out because the show has gotten way better with each episode.

I was definitely down on it the first few episodes but it picked up and took off and I love having yet another show to watch now.

Agreed brother, I knew it would take time to build the characters up and we are at that point now, with all the secrets coming out, they can focus on Hero development and taking down these corrupt people.

Great performances from everyone and show is still going strong!
