Movie just premiered last night and I haven't seen one negative reaction to the movie. Some are saying its the best MCU movie to date and the villain is great. Can't wait!!

They talked about the movie a little bit on Lebatard today.

Saying the reviews are "monumental" and "blockbuster-saving"

I saw something like that too. I really don't know what the term "blockbuster-saving" means. A movie is a blockbuster, or it is not. I guess these reviewers have to come up with new terms from time to time to keep readers interested.

I understand what it means, to a degree.
It will make those people who normally would wait for Netflix, Redbox, Streaming, etc. get off their couch, and go to the theater and see it.

So with the current way things are going, the 1st week is a hit, then the dropoff begins. This should stay relevant for a while

I feel like Rotten Tomoatoes gets too much attention as it is, and people obsessing over the "audience score" one way or the other takes it to another level of ridiculousness. Like, if you think a movie "deserves" a certain freshness rating or score because you like the movie, or have some sort of reflexive loyalty to it, that's beyond a waste of time and effort.

This is probably the first Marvel movie where I've seen reviewers compliment the villain this much....

                          Re: Black Panther (2018)

I think I'm in a very small percent of comic book fans when I say I'm not excited for this movie. I was really excited for Ragnarok and that let me down. (I know that, when I watch it a second time, I'll like it more but I expected more. Since this movie was announced, I just haven't cared. I don't know a lot about/feel invested in the character and I don't feel very compelled to change that. Plus, given how many comic book movies come out nowadays, I have to start getting picky for financial reasons.

I was deliberating whether or not I would see this in theaters. I know it's getting great reviews and I can appreciate its importance in terms of diversity. But my lack of interest, in addition to the fact that I just read an article that spoiled the post credit scenes, has sealed my decision. I won't be spending the money to see this in theaters. And that's ok. Plenty of people have every reason to be pumped for this movie and plenty of people will love it. Maybe I will too when I eventually watch it. But for now, it's just not for me.

                            Re: Black Panther (2018)

Black Panther is not exciting to me.

                            But neither was Thor
                            ...or Captain America
                            ...or Dr. Strange.
                            ...or Ant Man.

Comic-wise I'm in a bit of a funk and haven't been as big of a fan for a while with all the changes they've made. I've always been a more of an X-Men fan than the Avengers.

But the movies made me care, because they've been amazing. Established this plausible and grounded Iron Man-based universe and then were able to add gods, magic and interstellar travel to it. We don't get any of this w/ the X-Men franchise movies.

So at face value, Black Panther isn't a movie I'm excited for. Given the rest of the MCU, it's place in it and the larger overarching story leading to Infinity War... I couldn't be more excited to see how they hook me yet again.

That was my mistake with Wonder Woman. First time I saw it was a 9:30 showing. I kept dozing off in the last 10 or 15 minutes.
