    RIP Batman (Adam West)

Adam West, who managed to keep his tongue in cheek while wearing the iconic cowl of the Caped Crusader on the 1960s series Batman, has died. He was 88.

Adam West, the ardent actor who managed to keep his tongue in cheek while wearing the iconic cowl of the Caped Crusader on the classic 1960s series Batman, has died. He was 88.
Obviously most known for playing Batman. His 2nd biggest role was playing Mayor Adam West on Family Guy.

Even though he was 88, it still hurt to see that headline this morning. Loved Adam West, used to watch the Batman reruns everyday growing up. My intro to Bats was Adam West.

I grew up watching the reruns every afternoon. For most of my youth I saw that show as a stone cold interpretation of Batman til I realized what camp was. Adam West was a solid actor. It's a shame that he got typecast as the campy Batman but he really embraced it as the years went on. I'm glad that over the past year he was able to don the cowl one last time. (in animated form)

Adam West had the funniest lines in Family Guy. He also did that Batman thing a while back. He never took himself too seriously. And seemed to enjoy all of his roles. RIP

I wanted so bad for Christian Bale to say this when they were trying to figure out what to do with the bomb.

Batman debuted on my brother and mine's birthday. I remember we had to scramble to get the Philadelphia station because the Baltimore ABC affiliate chose not to air it. We got a pretty good reception because we were reasonably close (60 miles) to Philly.

It was a great show. Surprised it crashed and burned so quickly.

                        RIP Adam.

I am old enough to have seen Batman on TV when it first aired. West wasn't a bad actor but the role of Batman kind of pigeon holed him into that kind of camp and he never got any serious roles. Very under rated. RIP.

That happens to many actors unfortunately. They get stuck with the label of their first major character and people only see them as that which makes it harder to ever get roles elsewhere.

I'm sure if people look back to their fave shows all time, they'll find main characters who did very little after that show despite it being so big.

I believe the show was still popular but it was so expensive to produce that ABC just cancelled it. I think the producers had lined up a deal to go to NBC but by then the sets had been destroyed. (I might be mixing this up with Star Trek though)
