Reinstall Windows OS -- but some questions

I've been running primarily Windows 7 and I want to basically reformat my HDD and re-install. It will be Windows 7 Home Premium. However, on my secondary drive is Windows 10. I rarely boot into it as I've had little to no complaints about staying with 7. Installing 10 was primarily just to get familiar with it and to see if I could dual boot.

However, now my concern is what will happen when I wipe my primary drive, re-format it, and attempt to re-install Windows 7. I know that if I boot my PC with the Windows 7 disc in my CD tray, I will get the proper on screen prompts.

What I'm unsure of is, do I need to disconnect the W10 HDD prior to doing this? And if so, will my PC recognize it again as a potential HDD start up when I reconnect it.

Or will I be okay during the install process and will I be prompted to simply pick the correct HDD target onto which I will re-install W7?

Also, do you guys recommend something to wipe and reformat my W7 HDD first? I believe I used something called KillDisk in the past.

I'm not an expert or anything but you set your boot drive in the bios and select which drive you want to boot from including if you want to boot from your cd drive. You don't need to disconnect the other drive.

Well, right now the boot order is for the CD/DVD drive first, but then I have a dual boot screen that comes up, but it is set to default to Windows 7 first if I don't change anything at that screen. I'm pretty sure I set it up that way with EasyBCD.
