    Mindhunter (Netflix)

I thought I should make a separate thread for this fantastic show.

This goes in so much deeper in psychie of a killer than any other movie or show. It's so well done from the interogations and interviews.

Acting is also fantastic, especially the guy who plays Ed Kemper.

Just started episode 7. I'll have it finished by the end of the night, without a doubt.

One of the best "slow" shows I've ever seen. I can see people thinking it's "boring" but holy **** is this show fascinating.

Thanks for the tip on this. Got the first 2 eps. in tonight. Instantly hooked from the opening scene. Good initial cast chemistry.

This really is a smart, deep show. It's a bit apples and oranges, but Criminal Minds attacks the serial killer manhunt procedural in much the same way. For several seasons, it was just as smart as art I've seen here so far.

The problem with Criminal Minds is that it went on for a little too long. At some point, the pressure to keep outdoing each season turned the serial killers more and more into absurd and flamboyant villains. That, and the back story arcs got more and more obnoxious.

But the first several seasons are outstanding. The production is nowhere near the quality of Mindhunters, but the acting and stories are great. I mean, competing with David Fincher is not really fair.

But Criminal Minds tells the story of the F.B.I. Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). It's a perfect companion to Mindhunter, as it is what the folks in Mindhunter are creating. And the series emphasizes both the profiling of serial killers, as well as their interrogation to learn how to stop others.

I actually haven't seen it. I'll definitely check it out, my cousin was really into it but said it made him depressed watching it so i always subconsciously avoided it.

Does the story-line continue between episodes or is it episodic?

4 eps. in and it's stayed riveting. I can't seem to read the names of the towns they are traveling to.

Episode 8 and it's losing it's allure somewhat. Definitely good enough to finish, though.

                            Episode eight matters, though.

I appreciated the team with their analysis, friction, and chemistry even more than the nutjobs. Yeah, episode 8 matters, but if you're just honed in on the serial killers, it might not matter that much.
