    Re: A Quiet Place

    A couple I had:

Where did the electricity come from? Didn't see any solar panels

How could the nail on the stair case just come up straight like that for no reason. If your gonna put a nail in the stair case it would be pointed down. Also no one else stepped on it, thought the daughter was gonna eat it too.

How did the car roll back to the house at the end? It didn't look like it they were on a hill.

If being by the river covers sound, then why don't you live right by the damn river or waterfall?! You can yell at the top of your lungs so you can build something or if you're gonna have the baby stay at the waterfall for sure instead of creating an elaborate fireworks show.

Anyway i know its a movie and I loved it, but those are some things that didn't make sense to me.

We all have said this, including myself. But what are you going to do... build another house? Even if you had the means to do that, that would sure make a lot of big noises (EDIT: I realize you just said waterfall as well, but even still the idea of actually being able to build another home is ridiculous at best). And where would they get construction supplies? What about all of their agriculture? It's probably just best that they prep the kids for the worst and learn to stay quiet as is.

The real question is if they have that nice little "soundproof" basement area where they can have conversations, then why aren't they living down there more often? And hey, speaking of which, I have seen this film maybe seven times now and still can't figure out what the source of that water leaking in there came from or what caused it. I'm at a complete loss there. Not a plot hole by any means, but I don't remember that really being explained in any way.

The biggest thing I'd like to see answered is how they are at this state that they're in right now. You don't think the government would have easily figured out how to cripple them by now? Maybe they have and maybe they remain fortified and are fighting their way to these other places, who knows... but it just seems like this is something that would not dominate like... a tank, or a chopper. I just do not believe for one second that we would be seemingly on the brink of extinction from these creatures, no matter the amount. If emitting high frequencies is the way to exploit their weakness, we would have figured that out long ago.

Also throughout the movie I questioned why they didn't do make more diversion sounds, until Blunt's character uses the timer and the son uses the fireworks. Even after that... just throw something fifty yards away, let them chase after it, and go the other direction. It seemed off that this wasn't a strategy that was used more, and it could have been used quite often. This even comes down to when Krasinski's character sacrifices himself. I didn't feel he had to do that, and I especially don't think they even had to run to the truck in that instance since they were literally just standing on the grain. Also as the truck moved, it went from night to morning pretty quickly... just saying. I hate continuity goofs like that, and all films seem to have them but this one was incredibly glaring.

Oh, and I get the want for having a kid but that would really come off as a long-term struggle and a burden. Figure things out first with the kids that you have and see if this period will ever end before doing that lol. And hell, forget those noises... what if you snore, cough, sneeze, or fart? It seems that even the slightest sounds were things that the family very much feared. For that matter, where do they go to the bathroom? I'm sure they have a place, but they have to be pretty quiet about that as well.

I also didn't understand why the daughter wasn't allowed to go downstairs. There was nothing to hide whatsoever. I understand the idea that if she plays down there she could make a lot of noise without realizing it, but they made that as something bigger than it ever should have been. I don't get why she didn't think much of the fact that he cared a lot to get her hearing right until she saw his equipment down there either. That was a bit strange. And can she use her earpiece to weaken the creatures without it being in her ear? Seems like it was a toll she had to take at the beginning, but then she put it against the microphone and it turns out she doesn't even need the earpiece in.

That's probably half of what I got, anyway. I have a lot of things that just led to be a little... off with the film. All of this being said, it's still my second favorite film of the year. I just have a lot of problems with it that I think another draft really could have helped address or put my mind at ease with.

I personally loved it, but from reading others' impressions (IMDb, YouTube, comments in articles, etc.) it seems like one of those things that's being praised because of Krasinski, a once funny/sweet man showing some other chops in directing and acting. I couldn't care less and actually think there were some miffs in the directing (wouldn't have shown a full view of the creature in the opening, too many cheats cranking up the sound in jump scare moments, etc.), but I liked it way too much all the meanwhile.

I don't know if I liked this or Don't Breathe more in the thriller camp of films; probably this by just a little bit. Both play with [lack of] sound and have really let the audience play along with that. Having a deaf character in this film and a lot of sign language to communicate really elevated this for me though. Still had some major problems with the film as I mentioned in the previous post. Too bad it wasn't scary really.

The description was much better than the result, indeed. When I started it, the impression was not too bad. But till the end it became worse. So it is better to watch anything else, then this.

                  Re: A Quiet Place

okay, first of all, I watched the first trailer of a quiet place and I noticed something.

in A Quiet Place, barely any character wasn't talking in trailer 1 (I'm not counting for whispering) while this fan-made are splashing and talking. Also if you want to do a good fan made, get the actor and actress and monsters (because it looks like a small, furry, Tyrannosaurus-Rex) from the previous movie because it ended in a "to be continued" in A Quiet Place with the woman cocking a shotgun.
