    Survivor: Ghost Island

Season premieres this Wednesday (February 28) with a 2 hour special.

Inbetween seasons I watched the Samoa season. Still think that was such a bitter jury. Even after watching it on TV, they didn't want to acknowledge they got outplayed by Russell. 8-4 advantage and not a single person in that majority made it to the final 3. Though it did also lead to one of the funnier Survivor gifs:

Last season was underwhelming. Ben finding idols and facing everyone by himself was really the most notable part of it. Of all my "tier rankings", I'd put it on tier 3.

    Top Tier:
    Pearl Islands,All Stars,Panama,Cook Islands,Fiji,Fans vs Faves 1,Tocantins,Heroes vs Villains,Blood vs Water 1,Second Chance,Borneo

    2nd Tier
Australian Outback,Africa,Palau,Samoa,South Pacific,Fans vs Faves 2,Game Changers,Brain vs Brawn vs Beauty 1,Millennials vs Gen X,Philippines

    3rd Tier:
Blood vs Water 2,Brain vs Brawn vs Beauty 2,Worlds Apart,Vanuatu,Guatemala,Amazon, Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers

    Bottom Tier:
    China,One World,Nicaragua,Redemption Island,Gabon,Thailand,Marquesas

My quick cast assessment based on bios:

Domenick-That blue collar new yorker. Could see him just hating someones work ethic at camp.

Desiree-Born in New Jersey, lives in Brooklyn, was temporarily homeless. Could see her being real aggressive/mouthy towards people.

Kellyn-Probably the "nice person" of the season. Maybe just stuck in an alliance with a horrible player which costs her, like Jessica last year.

Jenna-Doesn't seem like she'll be that interesting. At most, maybe a short lived showmance?

Jacob-Could be the funny guy of the season getting lots of confessionals

Stephanie G.-Feel like she won't bond well with the other females on the season

Wendell-Could be good at challenges and connect with people, don't know how his social game would go

Donathan- Probably getting the underdog edit

Laurel-Seems real competitive/athletic and could be good at the comps.

Stephanie J.-Seems adventurous and a big fan of the game, but not sure how she'll do strategically. Longer bio makes it seem like she talks alot

Bradley-Might rub people the wrong way and be too cocky for peoples liking

James- Smart guy of season who seems like he could keep his calm and play under the radar game

Chris-A guy I could just see getting into arguments with people

Sebastian-The laid back adventurous guy who everyone will probably like.

Angela-Being a mom and a former army officer captain, sounds like she could end up bossing people around in the game

Morgan-If they have water challenges, she could be good at those and could help her chances to stay in game

Brendan-He's a gym teacher, so don't know how well he'd relate with the rest of players, but seems like he could hold his own in challenges

Chelsea-Could be a floater who'll stick around for awhile

Libby-Seems like someone that other people would underrate

Michael-The youngest person in the game. I think he's probably born not too long before the first season of Survivor. Under 20 year olds on game usually stick around for a decent amount of time on the game.
Pre-season F3 pick: Jacob, James, Kellyn

Nobody really stands out from bios, though that's obviously hard way of judging people.

This guy goes to Ghost Island, is immediately met with the sign about repeating past mistakes, receives the Sierra idol that she blabbed about, goes back to his tribe and can't spill the beans fast enough. What a dope. Good riddance

The legacy advantage curse lol. First person to find it ends up being voted out and they obviously never use it. In the previous 2 seasons the advantage happened, the person who ended up playing the advantage made it to the final tribal.

              Re: Survivor: Ghost Island

In hindsight, Jacob could've come up with much better lie than he did.

Could've simply been like "The advantage I got is a fake idol. ___ made it in season ___, but got voted out the same tribal they tried convincing someone it was real, but failed. Now I can reverse the curse by giving it to someone and making them believe it's a real idol and vote them out". And he could say that his plan is for their tribe to use it on the opposing tribe during the tribe switch.

So people know it's obviously fake, and he's admitting that he wants to use it for the tribe by getting someone on other side out.

That, or just tell the truth (is that allowed on Survivor? lol). Because obviously telling them something like "I had a 50/50 chance of getting the key to the box which revealed the advantage, but I lost", even if true, people in Survivor wouldn't buy it.

I guess we can count this as the China idol failing again? James never played it and got voted out, but this time around, the idol was played, but the guy who it was originally gonna be played for ended up saying to give it to someone else. He went home because of that. Nobody has "reversed the curse" just yet on any idol.

Sebastian and Donathan are my early faves this season.

People probably didn't notice, but this was first time Chelsea was acknowledged the whole season, and she got a confessional! Talk about invisible edit lol. Though to be fair, I probably still don't know at least a quarter of people this season.

I thought it was weird the guy was able to say who he was playing the idol for, assess the reaction, then change his mind

Not only that, but the guy who was on his way out based on the first choice, hung his head like he knew he was done, and this dude changed his mind anyway

I know there's editing and stuff, but damn

You're allowed to change your mind up until you hand Jeff the idol (at least I think that's the rule). Saying any kind of name beforehand is ok and reacting before something is official is a mistake people make.

Could've sworn when he was playing his idol though, he said it's for himself and Brendan (which would've been impossible since the idol wasn't actually allowed to be played for 2 people), then changed his mind after.

Wait, wasn't the idol specifically for two people? I may have misunderstood but I thought he was protecting two people, himself and one other, he originally chose Brendan then switched to the chick (I'm really failing on names tonight)

He said he's playing it for himself and Brendan(to the castaways) but when giving it to Jeff he said he's playing it for Stephanie. When Jeff said it's a real idol, he even said "any votes cast for Stephanie will not count".

It was a lie. It was a normal idol, only good for 1 person. He should have said it was usable after the votes were read.

There's lots of different ways you could go with a lie in Survivor. At times, it's really just luck on if certain things work or don't.

One thing that I see mentioned about all this is that his strategy at tribal made no sense from the other sides perspective. He's like "I'm playing this idol for 2 people and we're all voting ___, so if anyone wants to flip, vote them too". But what's the benefit of someone flipping? You don't need numbers if you're using an idol and play it correctly.

Should've been like "I'm playing an idol for 2 people, so even if you split the vote, it won't matter. It WILL be one of you unless you flip. We're throwing 3 votes on one of you(one of the 2 they're trying to flip), and 1 on (person they actually want out). If you want to stay in the game, vote for (person getting 1 vote)".

And since they're lying about the 3-1 vote splits, they'd have all 4 voting Bradley, meaning they'd need just 1 person to flip to make it a 5-4 vote in their favor.
