New Line has purchased David Chase's script so it's just a matter of when it hits the theaters.

I'm interested but would have preferred a series. Some of the major characters that would make the 1967-ish "adult age cut" would be Paulie, Livia, Phil Leotardo and Uncle Junior. You're then left with parents of Tony, Chris, etc., etc. but you still would have guys like "Feech" La Manna, Ray" Curto, and Carmine.

Yes, please!

We've been re-watching the entire series over the past month or so. I had seen the first four seasons multiple times but only watching five and six during their original runs. My wife hadn't seen any of them.

I'm normally not that big on prequel's but that's the only thing that will work here and I think Chase can pull it off.

I'm on board but which they would have taken this concept to series or even a one-off miniseries. Of course, the problem inherent with any prequel format is that you know some guys aren't going to die, and this is a mob film.

Completely and thoroughly underwhelming.

They would have been better off bringing the series back for a year. Would have given them a better shot at developing the characters.

Probably a must-watch for Sopranos fans, but its only redeeming quality is the nostalgia factor, IMO anyway.

Alessandro Nivola was really solid...

Well, going to side with many on how this was disappointing but also enjoyable to see some what of the prequel cast of characters come back to life. Mostly good. I'm wondering if the pandemic caused all kinds of production cost issues with WB for reasons it felt rushed with the plot and writing being terrible. Felt more like a pilot than a movie.

Yeah, this needed an 8 or 10-hour limited series.

Good actors, but not enough time to build these characters.

Dickie's goomah admitting that she slept with Harold (which pretty much came out of nowhere). Really?? Knowing that your partner is a violent mobster, and you're going to just volunteer the info that you cheated on him with his black subordinate? In the early 1970s? And there was no indication that Dickie suspected anything, she just felt guilty and fessed up with no prompting? That just rang incredibly false to me.

I liked parts and disliked parts. As people said, the story was too short. A limited series would have been great.

Ok, watched it for a 2nd time and there's two things now that jumps out at me. Looking for answers lol....

<li>In the early part of the movie, Dickie driving thru Newark just before he is hit with a flying object asks a cop what's going on. This cop looks like a dead ringer of a young Barry Haydu who Chris executes years later after a retirement party.. With Dickie laughing, he says "You find this funny". There's no credits given to that cop.

<li>In the ending credits Jilly Ruffalo is listed, and played by Ed Marinaro. Ruffalo is supposedly the man who contracted the hit on Moltisanti. I however, have no idea where or when is he played on screen during the movie

It makes since to involve Gilly (Marinaro) because Dickie took his friend's eye out (the eye removal thing was referenced when Dickie was making a point to the young man Harold beat up) so there was some motivation and it also collaborates a probable half-truth Tony was fed about Gilly calling for the hit. (Season 4 premiere of The Sopranos, "For All Debts Public and Private").

Ruffalo has a glass eye from Dickie's beating so I don't think he would have been at the viewing nor did I see anyone with dark glasses/eye patch at all. The only other possibility may have been Marinaro's voice on the phone to Jr, "It's done"

Multiple times I have seen the classic scene in the car with Tony Soprano telling Christopher Moltisanti about

Haydu killing his father. Because of that I relied on my own memory to sort out the facts but I got it slightly wrong. As you know Jilly Ruffalo killed Dickie's cellmate. When Dickey got out of prison he got revenge by taking JILLY'S eye out. Interesting enough Tony tells Christopher that Dickey took out the eye "so bad he couldn't even put a glass one in." So it makes less since that Jilly is standing behind Junior with no patch and seemingly no disfigurement around the eye area. So is that guy standing behind Junior Ed Marinaro? Sure looks like him.

So HBO has no budget for a real fire? Guess it was spent on all the cars.

Always tricky with prequels, you want to show the characters people know when they were younger, but not go over the top by showing them as finished products, you want to show flickers. Wasn't feeling Silvio, Livia or Paulie. Uncle Junior was alright.

Not as bad as I was hearing it was. This was unnecessary, lets leave The Sopranos be.
