Harry Anderson of "Cheers" & "Night Court" passes

Surprised this wasn't posted as of yet. Would've loved to have seen more of him on Cheers. His move to Night Court, going from con man to judge seemed like a stretch, but it was a good, entertaining show for it's time. Had a couple of SNL appearances too. Way too young.

Actor Harry Anderson found dead in North Carolina home, police say

I'm surprised as well. Although I never got into Night Court, all his appearances on Cheers were great. My favorite episode was "Pick a Con... Any Con". RIP Harry.

Aw man, I didn't know about this!

        R.I.P. Harry Anderson.

I was a HUGE fan of Night Court and loved all the risque and crazy humor of that show. His character of Judge Stone would be quirky as hell on any other sitcom but because his character was surrounded by so many colorful crazy characters he seemed sane!

The cool thing about Harry Anderson though is that he was versatile. He had a relatively successful show in the '90s in Dave's World which was based on the columns of Dave Barry.

Just goes to show, life is short and one must live each day fully no matter what.

Night Court was a show I really enjoyed, although I have to wonder how much of that show I truly understood or comprehended as a kid. Wouldn't mind revisiting it. I've been watching Cheers a lot on Netflix, and always nice to see Harry make an appearance.

Night Court is probably my favorite show and I just re-watched IT a few months ago. RIP. Wish Night Court was on Hulu or Netflix.

Honestly I'm not sure I gave this series a fair shot. I see the first season is only 13 episodes and Amazon has it for $9.99.

I just read where Harry had a series of strokes in late January after battling the flu.

The show doesn't really hit its stride fully until Season 4 (though Season 3 is pretty good with Florence Halop as the 2nd female bailiff) The show went through some shifts with 2 different public defenders before Markie Post came in as Christine Sullivan. The bailiff situation was similar in that Selma Diamond and Florence Halop died and then Marsha Warfield was brought on from Season 4 onward. Hell, even court clerk Mac wasn't an original cast member either!

I dunno what ratings were like for the first 3 seasons but NBC did well to keep it alive and grow to its best potential and gain an audience.

Harry the Hat was an awesome, intentionally-limited character. They wanted to keep him special. And he was. One of the most memorable guest characters on Cheers. So great.

I used to watch episodes of Night Court on reruns when I was a kid but I don't remember much from it aside from the theme song. I just know my brothers and I liked it. I need to watch it again somehow from the beginning. I'm sure it's excellent.

Excellent point. I can't think of another character like this other than the 1x appearance by John Cleese.

Couple guys. Nick Tortelli, Gary obviously.

Here's a read from Ken Levine about John Cleese. http://kenlevine.blogspot.com/2010/1...peared-on.html

Yeah totally bummed Night Court isn't on Hulu, Netflix, or Amazon. I think reruns are being aired on some channel though. Laff or something? I don't get it.

There were a couple times in my adult life I found it being aired on TV Land or whatever and I dvr'd every episode that aired and watched them all again. Love that show.

And yes, the show was at it's best once the cast was set in season 3, but they're all great imo.
