Re: TITANS (DC Universe TV Series)
The guy playing Jason Todd recently teased that he's going to become Red Hood at some point, posting a picture of the character's face on Instagram.

And definitely sad to hear the news about the crew member. Apparently it was just a freak accident during the preparation of the set. Prayers to that person's family.Comment

Re: TITANS (DC Universe TV Series)
Currently through episode 8 of season 2. This season, to me, is much better than the first season. Having Deathstroke as the main villain has been awesome and the actor is doing a phenomenal job.
Also, a third season has been ordered for next year but looks to only be on DC Universe and not on HBO Max.Comment

Re: TITANS (DC Universe TV Series)
Almost a year to the day the last time this thread was updated.
Now the the show is on HBO Max I was able to finally finish season 1 (I had seen all but the final episode).
SpoilerI'm glad I waited this long to watch it because it was basically a cliffhanger on top of the cliffhanger from the prior episode when Rachel pulls out Trigon. It was interesting to see Gotham in this dark universe though, and I thought that Batman going on a revenge spree was pretty cool.
I'm only two episodes into s2 so far:
SpoilerThe season opener was pretty disappointing. It seemed like the whole plot was rushed. The driving force of the entire first season was Rachel being sought by Trigon and his followers. In the first half of the episode we get all of the Titans, both new and old, but they are essentially glorified cameos. Which would be fine except for the final confrontation between Raven and Trigon was over in an instant. It was just very anticlimatic. Positive points for introducing Bruce Wayne though, and not just glimpses of his shadow.
The 2nd episode was a little better. There is an interesting relationship forming between Dick and Rachel. It was obvious in the first season that she really looks up to him, but the early parts of this season are really emphasizing that with their time on camera together (I'm not implying romance, more of a sibling bond). I would like to see more of why she says she is his "A" student (that didn't really seem to be the case when she was falling asleep reading The Art of War).
Rose Wilson (aka little Deathstroke) makes me think we are going to get the classic trope of: Outcast gets brought into the circle, something happens to cause her allegiance to change and betray those that trusted her, some kind of redemptive arc at the end. It's not my favorite story telling mechanic, but we'll see how things go.
The hints of Dr. Light really make me miss the old 2000's animated show. Raven vs. Dr. Light was always funny.Comment

SpoilerI really enjoyed Season 1. I know many people didn't like the darker take on the Titans but I do and enjoyed the more grown-up approach to the show instead of trying to mimic the animated version TV show.
I thought, the same as you, that the plot carry-over to Season 2 was rushed.
However, from what I read, I believe Season 1 was supposed to have an additional 2-3 episodes but they cut it down in post-production. Maybe that had something to do with it. I feel like they could have done so much story with Rachel and her Dad's story but it is what it is.
For Season 2 as a whole (spoiler for end of Season 2):
SpoilerI honestly enjoyed this one more than Season 1. I know some people didn't like it as much but I thought it was very well done. I am probably going to re-watch it here soon. I like the addition of Superboy, Rose, Bruce Wayne, and Deathstroke. I thought the whole story line was very well done. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the ending when Donna Troy "died". I doubt Wonder Woman would die in the same way but maybe they did this for plot purposes of Season 3. I am sure she is being brought back in Season 3.Comment

Re: TITANS (DC Universe TV Series)
Season 2 should just be titled "Titans's Flashbacks".
If this show wasn't about the Titans then I don't think that I would have made it even half way through the season.
Spoiler
I can't believe they thought it was a good idea to have entire episodes (multiple) dedicated to flashbacks. This season felt more like the introduction into a series with all of the character exposition, rather than a second season after already introducing the main cast.
The flashbacks were important to give context, but we really didn't need entire episodes as well as large sections of others dedicated to them.
Imaginary Bruce Wayne in Dick's head was an annoying plot device. Bad enough that an entire episode revolved around that plot device, but then they continued it for several more.
It was utterly baffling why the entire team suspected Jason as being the culprit for all of the little pranks around Titans Tower. Yeah, let's jump to suspecting Jason instead of the girl off the streets who also happens to be the daughter of a known criminal.
Rose's betrayal was hardly surprising. It was evident from the start that she would betray them. I was mildly surprised that she joined the Titans in the end though.
One scene that really made me hate the writers of this show though....There was a scene where Dawn, Donna, Kori and Rachel meet up at a run down diner in Elko, Nevada, and then Bruce Wayne makes an appearance. After Bruce leaves, Kori asks, "did he just come in and mansplain to us"....prior to that comment I had not even made the connection that all of the powerful heroes at the diner were all ladies. As soon as she said that though I realized that everyone present was female. It called attention to something that didn't matter. It was annoying, unnecessary, and if anything the comment demeaned the 4 women on screen.
I did love the scene with Kori and Rachel trying to break Dick out of jail though.
The finale was easily the highlight of the season.
The pacing was just too chaotic. Season 1 also had a character focus, and it worked because they were only dealing with 4 characters with some cameos from a few others. Trying to fit character development for now 10 different characters in a 13 episode season is and was a disaster though.Comment

Re: TITANS (DC Universe TV Series)
Season 3 released last week, and we have the first 3 episodes already out.
So far I'm not sure what to think. The worst part about Season 2 for me was how each episode centered on individual characters. It didn't really seem like a show about the "Titans". I would say that this one seems like it's a little better so far, but certain characters have received almost no screen time while others haven't appeared at all through the first 3 episodes.
It's a pretty interesting arc that they have set up though, and I'm interested to see it play out.
It probably was a good idea for them to release the first 3 episodes off the bat because...well it would suck to have to wait 3 weeks to get as far as we are now.
SpoilerI did like the reference to Ra's al Ghul. If the show goes on long enough I wonder if we eventually meet Damian Wayne.Comment

very red hood focused open episodes hopefully it expands and flushes out a decent storylineKenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.

Re: TITANS (DC Universe TV Series)
Man...I am not enjoying this season.
We're 25% of the way into the season, and we still haven't even seen at least one of the main characters.
The villains have also been very lackluster. Redhood's development has been nothing if not infuriatingly inane (even with some important moments orchestrated by him), and the the most recent "bad" that was introduced...well their circumstances are just silly.Comment
