That's why I also said Matt Stone could tweet those things and no one would bat an eyelid. It's all relative to who you are, what you're conveying, what your audience is, etc.

Whether Disney knew about the tweets on the onset is fairly irrelevant. They could have been glossed over as "bad Tweets" or they could have known exactly what they were. Either way - there's only one avenue to take when this gets brought back up to the surface and spotlighted.

Gunn is not Robert Downey Jr. A more apt comparison would be to say Gunn is at the "downfall" stage that RDJ experienced himself before building himself back up to where he is now.

Getting annoyed at Disney because "they probably knew all along" is a waste to me because it's irrelevant once these things were made public.

I really have no idea if they knew or not. If they knew, why wouldn't they tell him to delete the tweets a long time ago to avoid this kind of mess? I guess the assumption is that a company as big as Disney is doing their due diligence but what does that even mean? What if their Twitter search was a quick couple of hot button keywords they wanted to make sure he had never said? Do people think someone is going over these guys twitters with a fine tooth comb? The Milwaukee Brewers/Major League Baseball are a pretty big business, they seemed to have been blindsided. Why the assumption that they knew in the first place?

Couple of things.

One, Disney has officially scrapped Gunn's script for Guardians 3. So if it ever does get made, Bautista won't be in it.

Secondly, Gunn has been approached by several top producers and studio executives for upcoming projects, so thankfully this didn't ruin his career.

EDIT: Apparently Disney has now decided to use Gunn's script after all.

Also affecting the negotiations is that sources say Disney plans on using Gunn's script for the third movie.

On James Gunn’s website, which no longer exists, someone did one of those archive website things and found a picture of him at a “To Catch A Predator” themed party from 2012. This combined with the tweets certainly makes you wonder if this really is all a joke.

I still don't get how you can be morally fine with using his script and not him as director. I find that to be an interesting concept.

I'm putting the chips onto the "GotG is retired" square.
