    Graphic fidelity on photoshop images.

I’ve been curious about something that I hope someone might be able to help with. I make some images on photoshop frequently that I post here on OS for dynasties/franchises, and things like that. I usually upload them to imgr or some photo hosting site and then copy the image address and post it in a thread.

However, I’ve noticed that when I post it on the forums, I lose (ever so slightly) some of the definition of the image. It’s just not as crisp or clear as it was in photoshop or on the hosting site. Does anyone know what causes this and if there’s a way to avoid it?

Does it get compressed when you upload the image online, or when you save it into an image format onto your computer? What file format are you using? I'll have to check out Imgr.

If you save as a PNG, it should pretty much be lossless. The only time I lose information is in printer quality if I'm using a different color scale to my printer or if I'm not using 300+ dpi.

I'm not sure how to check to see if it gets compressed. But I do know that it looks, "normal," in imgr and then when it gets onto an OS post it's just slightly less clear. Especially noticeable with text. I always save my photoshop images as jpg's, maybe I should start using png files.

      Here's my example:

Yeah make the photos in really high resolution so you don't notice a compression takeaway when you post them elsewhere.

I make them in the highest resolution possible. The downgrade in quality doesn’t occur until I post it to the forum. When I upload it to Imagur, it’s still fine. But then when I like it with a [img] tag, there’s a slight decrease in quality. Like a lower resolution. It’s most noticeable, to me at least, with text. It’s just not quite as clear/crisp once it’s on the forum.
