They really needed to do something like the first training in the game so you could figure out who and what everyone is.

I was more referring to the last couple of episodes setting up season 2. I will spoiler it in case people are still watching or havent seen it yet.

    Spoiler

Season 1 had only 8 episodes so there was only so much to do and it sounded like the way the first season ended was how Netflix and the showrunner wanted it to end, so there was only so much background and storytelling they can get to within the time constraints given. The rest I can kind of gather on my own by reading the books if need be.

To each their own. Some people like it. Some people don't, as with any show.

Just another friendly reminder to anybody that enjoyed the show to definitely pick up The Last Wish and/or Sword of Destiny. Both are short story collections and about half of the first season was pulled from The Last Wish.

It'll provide some greater depth and insight into the world, but mainly they're just really fun and entertaining to read. Geralt is even more a of witty bastard on the page than on the screen.
