    Re: Survivor: Edge of Extinction

Isn't the final 3 always bad because of players dragging the worst players with them? I mean, that's the point isn't it? I feel like this is a situation of "don't hate the player, hate the game". It's not Chris's fault he happened to participate in this EoE season, but he won his way back in, did all he needed to do to position himself to win, and then won. I thought it was a solid season and glad Rick won favorite player.

I flipped out when I saw Boston Rob was coming back next season lol, then was bummed out to see it was just a mentor role with Sandra. That's a twist that isn't even a twist. Maybe that's Survivor's way of having a twist that doesn't mean anything and the show will get back to basics?

Ahh who am I kidding, they'll let the mentors control idols and special advantages and muck things up again as usual

F3s usually end up with 1 who has 0 shot, 1 as fave to win, and 1 who could win depending on the jury.

Not saying hes at fault, it's completely the twists fault. Just led to completely bad finale. Even the idol crazed ending was over the top. We were so close to another person getting idoled out(3 idols played at f5, 1 has immunity, so 5th person with nothing would've automatically been gone).

Producers just love these crazed twists when it doesn't always work out. There's been some decent winners lately, but I find we've seen more "underwhelming" winners than better ones over past few years.

Trust me, Rob and Sandra's appearances will make perfect sense beyond this season. I could explain more in PM or spoiler.

That guy was Chris. I honestly didn't even remember his name and now he's a winner!

      Top Tier:
      Pearl Islands,All Stars,Panama,Cook Islands,Fiji,Fans vs Faves 1,Tocantins,Heroes vs Villains,Blood vs Water 1,Second Chance,Borneo

      2nd Tier
Australian Outback,Africa,Palau,Samoa,South Pacific,Fans vs Faves 2,Game Changers,Brain vs Brawn vs Beauty 1,Millennials vs Gen X,Philippines,Ghost Island

      3rd Tier:
Blood vs Water 2,Brain vs Brawn vs Beauty 2,Worlds Apart,Vanuatu,Guatemala,Amazon, Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers, David VS Goliath, Edge of Extinction

      Bottom Tier:
      China,One World,Nicaragua,Redemption Island,Gabon,Thailand,Marquesas
My updated rankings. I'm tempted to put EoE in bottom tier. Probably just a knee jerk reaction to the finale. If it had Devens or Lauren win, it'd probably be 2nd tier.

In offseason I'm rewatching Guatemala. Might bump it up to 2nd tier. I forgot the cast. Steph returns! And they had a tv writer who would later go on to write one of my favourite shows, Agents of Shield!

After that, I'm completely out of rewatching ideas. Basically rewatched all seasons I've wanted to before s20. Feels so recent, but s20 about to be the halfway point in survivor history!

They for sure need to cut out most of the advantages and idols. It made for some entertaining moments, but it's getting ridiculous. It was so stupid that Chris got an advantage so late. Your *** got VOTED OUT. Coming back should be enough. There is no reason to award that. If EoE ever comes back they need to make it like non-elimination amazing race rounds. Make it so they can't compete in immunity challenges or make the challenges more difficult for them.

Or simply just have the returnee return earlier in the game.

As much as I hate Big Brother always having a player return every single season, they at least do it earlier on in the game. One returning player coming back at start of jury(or the vote before jury begins) and that's about it(minus BB18, though that was only funny because everyone loved Victor).

Bringing a player back at F6 shouldn't happen, especially when you have a F3. Chris had huge advantage in fire making challenge(though I'll admit, that was one of biggest "all or nothing" moves this late in the game ever. Either he beats Devens and wins the game, or looks stupid giving away immunity and is out at F4).

I hope this twist doesn't return (although Redemption Island on Survivor was a bad twist too, they at least found 1 season(of like 4-5 tries) where it worked perfectly, BvW1).

At least on Redemption Island you had to win something every week. You didn't just have to win one single comp to instantly be in the final 6.

At very least the EoE challenge should've been multiple legs. Start off with 11 or however many they had, then top 5 move to next round, and top 2 from that go head to head.

Either way, winner shouldnt be in f6. Once first member of jury is announced, nobody should return.

No way Vanuatu is lower tier. Chris outsmarted a whole women's alliance and won the **** thing single-handedly. It was one of the greatest runs in Survivor history.

                NCAA- Florida State Seminoles

Maybe I'll rewatch it one day. I'm ranking them based on how much I remember them all and the winner themselves. Chris is one of the winners I barely hear mentioned in Survivor history. The cast as a whole, next to Eliza, I dont even remember anyone else.

Really though it was no risk with huge reward.

He either wins and has the strongest resume of the final 3 or he loses and he's out, if he puts Gavin up to make fire and Gavin loses Chris isn't beating Devens anyway.

Still a big move but he had nothing to lose and a million dollars to win.

It's rarely mentioned but you also have to consider the prize for the runners up. I believe they get $100,000. There was still an incentive to put someone else there.

True but in that position where I spent most of the game on the edge of extinction if I make that move and win 1 million or I don't make that move and I can win 100,000 I am taking that gamble 100 times out of 100.

But saying there was no risk was overdoing it on my part for sure, would suck to walk away without 100k but knowing that million is mine if I take Rick out I'd put it on the line as Chris did.
