Do you connect your console to the TV or sound bar?
Curious what members of the community think about this: If you have a nice sound bar, do you connect your video game system directly to that or the TV?

Re: Do you connect your console to the TV or sound bar?
Some TVs can pass through Atmos, but not all. Depends on the TV and the soundbar. -

I have no idea why anyone that has a soundbar would connect directly to the TV, other than simply not having the time yet to hook it up.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Do you connect your console to the TV or sound bar?
If so, you can buy a toslink optical splitter or HDMI splitter, whichever your sound bar uses.
I used to use one when my sound bar only had one input. Mine even had a little remote to change inputs.
Here's an example of one that allows you to connect 3 devices (like your DirecTV, an Xbox One and a PS4) to your soundbar, assuming you're using toslink:
And if you're sound bar is using HDMI here is one that is HDMI, although it's only got 2 inputs and 1 output:

I have mine going through the tv just because it's easier and my soundbar isn't anything special.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Even then running through some cheap switch isn't going to be any worse than a TV.Comment

Re: Do you connect your console to the TV or sound bar?
I have mine running to the TV and then sound bar, but I need the sound from streaming coming out the sound bar. It's just my bedroom though and the sound bar only handles dolby.
I would never send it to the TV with a receiver or top of the line sound bar.

Re: Do you connect your console to the TV or sound bar?
If you go to rtings they’ll be able to tell you which TVs do which.
My 2017 Vizio M series does 5.1 pass through with Toslink and it sounds awesome.
