    Re: Mandalorian

Yeahhhh, I'm going to finish out the season since we're two episodes away and I'm such a star wars fanboy, but I can't say that I'd recommend this to anyone.

I'm not a huge fan of shows that I can pretty much guess the whole premise of within the first 5 minutes, and almost every ep so far has been exactly that. These last episodes will really have to wow me if I'm going to continue on in season 2.

I've never watched Xena, Hercules or Firefly, but if they're like this, there's a good reason I stayed away from them, it's just not my bag. I'm not sure what exactly I was expecting from this show, but I was definitely expecting more than an avenue for Disney to sell baby Yoda merch.

      Re: Mandalorian

Yeah, it's a really harsh contrast when I'm also watching The Expanse and Watchmen.

Feel like my toddlers would enjoy Mandalorian more than I am, Star Wars in the end just isn't that sophisticated of a franchise. It's just a fan service industry at this point.

I really like the character they're selling us, but these episodes just feel so flat and unremarkable.

Definitely seems like the show is faltering a bit with the last few episodes. Hopefully it turns around soon; only what, 2 episodes left in the first season?

Couldn't agree more. I love it. I don't need this show to have a start and finish to this season. I like the fact it's exploring the universe and introducing us to things we haven't seen in Star Wars. This is the back alley stuff that we were never allowed to see before. Not just Empire and Rebels. It's fun.

yeah, series should be perfectly fine...unless you notice an episode titled The Last Mandalorian. in which case it may be ready to jump the shark. or sarlacc.

Pretty great episode. Tied alot of things together. A few surprises and now the story can progress and there's more of a plot.

I guess the last few episodes were just fillers.

Not every episode has to tie into the main story arc.

I love seeing some different adventures and the life of a Mandolorian.. The Star Wars universe feels alive and that is what I want out of the series.

That's fine but lately it just feels like filler episodes. Like when they ended up in that village. The whole plot was about them helping defend the village. It just seemed pointless and a complete waste of an episode.

I want to love this series, I hate being so critical. But lately it's been very basic and too easy to read what happens next.

That's why I appreciated this one. It caught me off guard a few times and left me hanging for next week and wanting more.

That's where we take different paths. I haven't seen the latest episode yet but the last few felt like it was about a guy answering temp job listings on craigslist one week to the next. I don't mind them showing different parts of the galaxy but it seems completely random the last few weeks.

I understand that but the thing is the season is pretty short only 8 episodes so 3 episodes is a lot of the season to just be like filer.

Which is why it's probably not filler, and will be called back to. Without that context, it feels like filler. We saw this with the most recent episode

It's not really filler. The episode saving the village basically was him becoming friends with Cara Dune. Creating a bond so he can go back to her for help later. Which he does 2 episodes later. You know the Gunslinger episode will have some sort of payoff with how it ended. Them seem like one offs but I don't think they are. But honestly even if they are I'm still cool with that.

Finally saw the latest episode and it was so much more fulfilling then the last couple weeks. I at least know some of the previous episodes have come back full circle, although I knew Cara Dune was going to reappear as they wouldn't have made a big deal about Gina Carano playing the part if she was only in one episode. I hope it continues more like this going forward, this was exactly what I was hoping it would be going into it.

Kinda ended up on a full Star Wars kick over the last few weeks, went Rogue One through Episode 6, heard this took place after that and before Episode 7 so figured keep on going. Plus, I had just heard great things in general.

Really well done. Especially having rewatched the original trilogy (saw it as a kid, cool but didn’t really pay attention to everything) you really get to see the vast universe the Skywalker saga alludes to but never goes in to. Mandolorians are BAMF’s. One thing I’ve really come to appreciate in my reviewing is droids. They’re all great characters, useful and funny as hell. The unsung heroes of Star Wars.
