Very much enjoyed this movie. Ewan McGregor was awesome. The movie was a little all over the place. But it was a fun ride.

Re: Birds of Prey (2020)
If you're gonna have Harley be the star and go on a crime spree add Poison Ivy and Catwoman.
The birds of Prey hardly had much going on this film Helena was ignored a lot and they're missing Barbara Gordon as either Oracle/Batgirl.Last edited by zello144; 02-20-2020, 12:26 AM.Comment

Re: Birds of Prey (2020)
Hollyweird keeps pushing the "strong female(s)" agenda (look at latest movies). Not sure if it's guilt or just fronting something, but it's generally not working. Marvel is gonna try to do this at some point a la that segment of Endgame in the final battle. I would imagine Black Widow will do well, though.Comment

Re: Birds of Prey (2020)
Is there a heavy load of movies released or preparing for release featuring strong female leads?

Re: Birds of Prey (2020)
I watch a lot of trailers and, hey, maybe it's just me, but it seems to be a trend. I dunno, almost like Hollywood is maybe trying to counter the whole Weinstein/#metoo movement? Not for this thread I know, but this movie, latest Ghostbusters, Ocean's 8, female James Bond, the latest Star Wars (and the complaints that followed), latest Terminator (and there will most likely be the reproducing what Marvel did in the comics for female versions of their cornerstone characters) seem to point to it. And sometimes it's the combination of strong female lead, coupled by idiot male partner, like in "Us". Maybe I'm wrong. Look around and see what you think. I don't think Hollywood does anything by accident. They have agendas as does any prominent entity out there.Comment

Re: Birds of Prey (2020)
Do you have a problem with it? Or just like bringing it up in whatever movie thread just so happens to have a female lead in it?
Of ALL the movies that are released you picked out 5-10 and pushed them together into some agenda. One of which hasn't even released. Terminator began with a strong female lead 30 years ago. I'm not even sure what complaints from the past two Star Wars are even related to this.

Re: Birds of Prey (2020)
Its more probable they are just bad or poorly received movies rather than being the result of "reaction" by movie goers to some perceived agenda.

Re: Birds of Prey (2020)
Maybe, but that's not really the same thing. If you put out a product for the sake of putting out a product because you simply think there isn't enough of that product (it's not fair, etc.) and people then SHOULD buy it, it doesn't mean they WILL buy it. BUT .... some individuals / groups will look down on those who won't buy it, saying they're the problem, not the product. Which is absurd.Comment

Re: Birds of Prey (2020)
What exactly is your point, though?
Was your original post in response to a point raised in the thread previously? I'm not really seeing how this specific movie ties into the agenda being pushed onto people when this movie was not marketed well at all.

Re: Birds of Prey (2020)
I don't know how you gauge that is was not marketed well, especially in this day and age of repetitive exposure. Didn't it have a S.B. commercial as well? Regardless. I was merely making a comment about somebody saying it didn't meet financial expectations. Nothing more.Comment
