What If...? has been really good. This 3rd episode feels a lot like one of the old comics.

Finally saw episode 1 of What If.

From what I read, episode 1 has been the weakest of the 3 so far, so that's good news.

The animation is obviously the main thing which stands out to me here. Takes getting used to since every other bit of MCU stuff has been real stuff. But the story wasn't so bad.

Finally saw episode 1 of What If.

From what I read, episode 1 has been the weakest of the 3 so far, so that's good news.

The animation is obviously the main thing which stands out to me here. Takes getting used to since every other bit of MCU stuff has been real stuff. But the story wasn't so bad.

It definitely has changed the least amount of universe of the three episodes.

Sure about that? Initial impression for me was Peggy not leaving the room created the branch that all of these other episodes are also branching from.

I think it's all separate universes.

In the first episode

Captain America turns into Captain Carter because Peggy stays in the room and eventually takes the serum herself.

In episode 2

The entire thing changed all because Yondu wasn't the one who went to earth to get Quill, so they took the wrong kid. Don't see how Peggy becoming Captain Carter would change what happens with Yondu.

In episode 3

It's about the Avengers being killed before the Avengers Initiative happened. At the end of the episode he went to where Captain America was frozen. So Steve Rogers is Captain America here, meaning it wouldn't connect with the 1st episode with Peggy.

Although...I wonder if all this is the mystery of the series. Right now it feels like a series of stories, but I'm sure it all connects. Perhaps it ties in with the ending of Loki, which would make sense.

And the character who is the narrator, I feel like they're the one who'll play the big role in this all at the end of this season.

That's interesting. I hadn't thought about it. I just assumed they were all different branches like it showed at the end of Loki

In my mind they're all separate multiverses, which is how I believe it's supposed to be interpreted.

I don't think that the episodes are connected at all. But on the other hand I think some *could* be. Two examples provided below. Spoilered for some minor recency (last week's episode, not this week).

T'Challa Starlord and Mad Titan Gamora. He changed Thanos' mind in that universe, but we never see Gamora in that whole episode.

Seems like the last 2 episodes of What If are the most popular of the series so far, although I found they weren't as good as episode 2, or especially not episode 3.

One of the last lines in the episode was so eerie to hear.

Hearing Black Panther mention that "death is not the end, they are still with us as long as we do not forget them" is obviously sad to hear since we all know this series was the last work he ever did.

Last night's What If..? was the weakest of the series for me. Love the concept, just the story was not executed well.

Watching this episode thinking I’d love to live in a universe where Killmonger was the villlain for Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
