I also only watched Kills once and did not like it at all. My initial reaction was "where was the stalking?" as there was no suspense which was always made Halloween movies worthwhile to me.

This was more like: Michael pops up in a mob of 25 people and quickly kills most or all of them then on to the next. That's not what made the franchise good in my opinion.

I have overblown this thing, but tell me what you think about the baseball scene logic (meaning the way Derrickson represents the sport). It is so sad the way it's done. It's like if you watched a poker game where everybody is always revealing their cards to each other, somebody calls by adding nothing to the pot, and a hand is won by somebody because all of their cards are red. It's literally that laughable with all of the things that look wrong in that scene.

To be fair, the filmmakers themselves told us the movie was going to be like that When they laid out the roadmap for the trilogy.

But the average consumer shouldn't be expected to know that. So it was certainly a very divisive movie. Personally, I loved it.

Just finished watching the newest movie in the Predator series, Prey. Light on scares, but a good movie overall that finally gets the series back on track

Gotta re-watch it but on first watch I'd say it's the second best movie in the franchise. My only lament is that the series will likely ndever be a huge, box - office draw in theaters, again.

We can all thank Shane Black and that pile of **** he released a few years ago for that.

And to a lesser extent Robert Rodigruez, although I liked Predators and thought it was a low - key success.

Does anyone here use Shudder? Does it have a nice selection of big name properties? Is it all smaller stuff?

                    I can't figure out if it's a good service.

It has a mix of both, TBH. Smaller, independently made exculsive films (hit or miss), some "festival darlings" that they pick up the rights to and then they cycle out a lot of classic Horror.

Sometimes they have little gems thrown in (Bloody Hell) that I'd never seen or heard of. They also have a pretty good selection of international Horror flicks too if that's your thing.

The big studio films (ie Halloween Kills/Ends, the Purge or Nope) are the only exceptions & something that I rarely if ever see on there.

Shudder is really good if like me you are a horror addict. There is a lot of cult classics, and I gotta tell ya….I am really getting into a lot of the international horror movies out there.

Also original movies and shows….it’s not expensive and you may really enjoy it.

Re: OS Official Horror Movie Thread

I know a lot of people are mad about Halloween Ends coming to Peacock on day 1. But I think it's a good thing since a lot of people still aren't going back the theaters. I would have had to go by myself because none of my friends or my wife like horror. Which sucks.

But I'll definitely be watching as soon as it's released. It will be bittersweet to see this series end. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for another re-imagining of the series.

Also, if you haven't heard, Friday the 13th may be coming back sooner than anyone thought. Some rumors from people that can be trusted have come out saying a new movie is in the works right now. Even Sean Cunningham's Cameo page mentions a new movie coming next year. Unless someone hacked that account, I'd take his word for it.

So it looks like he and Victor Miller may have come to an agreement. Which is best for both parties if they like money.

Sadly though, it gives the impression that the studio doesn't have faith in the movie.

I'm not speaking about you specifically, but you want to see it at home? Wait like the disc buyers. Theatrical releases are a timed exclusivity only, not an everlasting one.

Obviously it's not Halloween season anymore at that point, but after Halloween Kills went this direction and was not very well received, having this do the same thing doesn't seem like the right move, especially when this wasn't their original plan.
