It's hard for me to classify Sinners as horror, but if that's the posted genre then to each their own.

Agreed though, best movie so far this year. Behind that for me are Freaky Tales and Black Bag (not horror films).

EDIT: Warfare might be up there too, but from a theatrical first-time viewing standpoint only. I could rewatch the other three at home more often.

Supernatural Horror......what am I missing on this description?

Y'all are clinging on this way too much. This isn't a hill I'm trying to die on. I just don't think that because a movie has vampires that should automatically classify it has horror.

I've seen plenty of other films with more blood, tension, and jump moments (see Warfare for example), and that ain't horror either.

Indeed, we have the vampire-centric nature, southern gothic elements, and that violent and sensual nature. In the end, for me.irs a fantasy thriller-drama, with some action and "musical" (not breaking out into song, but just lots of music) thrown into the mix. Some shock value here and there, but most of it to me falls in the thriller camp.

I can be wrong, and that's fine. I didn't walk out of the movie with this thought in mind, so maybe I have to rewatch it and see if the amount of blood or dark elements will make me think otherwise. I just won't be one to rank it in my top horror films like Die Hard won't go into my top Christmas films, or Stranger Than Fiction won't be in my top comedies. After seeing this movie, I never would've gone out of my way to post in this particular thread about the movie.

Doesn't take away from it being my favorite film this year so far.
