John Saxon, Enter The Dragon / Nightmare on Elm Street actor, passes at 83

Always seemed cool and rugged ... like the dude you'd want on your side. Seemed like he kept himself in shape over the years. I never got into the NOES movies, but I remember him being in a Gene Roddenberry TV movie, Planet Earth, which also starred some Star Trek guest stars, including Ted Cassidy (the original Lurch).

Great character actor. Him and Lance Henriksen take on lots of projects but are underrated actors, RIP.

I know Mr Saxon was a versatile actor and fit in on a lot of different roles, but I remember him best on Six Million Dollar Man as Maskatron, scared the crap out of me when I was a little kid. lol.

I haven't thought of Saxon in a long time but he was one of the most recognizable character actors of the 70's in both name and face. Many eons ago I read a magazine article interview with George Maharis that said ABC had doubts about him playing boxer Joey Quales in the Rich Man Poor Man miniseries because of his age and that Saxon was the guy they might go to. Ultimately they stuck with the old guy.

RIP. As a huge slasher film fan, he'll always be Lt. Thompson to me.

I dread the day we lose Robert Englund. I so want to see him dawn the glove one more time.
