Series/Season finale is this weekend. This show has been incredible, unsure of what to expect in the last episode!

Re: Dexter Revival (Showtime) Fall 2021
It was just announced that "Dexter:New Blood" became the most watched series in ShowTime history.
The super high ratings may indicate a second or multiple seasons as the showrunner said he's ready to start developing immediately.
SpoilerSince Dexter is now dead he would almost certainly come back as a "ghost consult" to Harrison. I don't know how I feel about a sequel but if there is one I'd want Julia Jones and David Zayas in it.
I liked the finale particularly the scenes between Dexter and the police chief (also ex-girlfriend). They needed Dex reluctantly killing the immensely GOOD coach Logan to generate an "over the line" moment for Harrison giving him no choice. Years ago Deb got a similar choice but picked her brother over the right thing to do.
A lot of people will hate the ending simply because the star didn't make it. I think the line that Dexter crossed with LaGüerta (he was fully intent on ending an innocent's life) pretty much sealed his fate. Angel's appearance in the finale reminded the viewers of that.Comment

Great write up in your spoiler, couldn't agree more with everything you said.
My wife and I were riveted to every episode and to us they made up for the horrible final season from 2013.

Re: Dexter Revival (Showtime) Fall 2021
I'm okay with the outcome of Dexter's fate but the execution was sloppy and rushed IMO.
Spoiler- I don't agree with the huge consensus of people that disliked the finale that "Dexter would never kill an innocent, that was out of character for him, the writers made him sloppy this season"...like that's the ****ing point! He hadn't killed in 10 years, he's older and not as sharp as he used to. Not to mention he was emotionally involved because of Harrison. This is just simple emotion clouding judgement 101 and I don't know why that went over so many people's heads.
- I do think it was far too rushed though. They put a lot of **** into that finale episode that easily could've stretched over multiple episodes, maybe even a season.
- The tease of an Angel/Dexter reunion was a middle finger to us fans. We should've at the very least gotten to see that confrontation.
- Dexter didn't need to kill Logan nor try to escape from jail. I guess maybe he was just terrified of confronting Angel for fear of what he might have on him? Cause from everything we know, didn't seem the evidence would stick enough to convict him on either the Caldwell or BHB cases.
- Harrison killing Dexter as the "only way out for both of us" seemed really lazy. Harrison is all "I just want to be normal" and Dexter is all "okay then you have to kill me cause murdering me certainly won't **** you up more, it will totally make you normal once and for all".
So yeah, execution sucked IMO. Dexter should've died, no argument from me...but how he died and how fast he died really made me feel like I wasted the previous 10 weeks watching what was for the most part an amazing season only to be met with utter disappointment in the finale.
I would've liked to see a second season. They could've ended season one on a cliffhanger from episode 9 with Angela opening that letter (also another plot hole, remember she had a doorbell camera in the first or second episode cause she looked on her phone to see Audrey and her friends going over to their house) with the screw inside of it. Or I would've liked the season to end with Angel arriving in Iron Lake and seeing Dexter behind bars. Something like we see Angel face-to-face on the bars with him as he says "you son of a bitch" and then boom it ends with a cliffhanger. And Season 2 is Dexter back in Miami standing trial for the BHB case. And at the end he's convicted and he either gets life in prison or put to death. That would've been a much more satisfying end to Dexter IMO.Comment

SpoilerBy the way there is a non-legal self defense argument for Dexter offing Logan too. I mean the guy was shooting a gun at his head albeit not from a great position.

SpoilerAngela had already made a decent preliminary case against Dexter highlighting the BHarborB's pattern of needle marks on the neck of his victims which happened to mimic those on the junior drug dealer and bigger drug dealer...and Dex was tied to both by the assault on the former and the ketamine. Throw in Angel and Dexter was trapped like a rat.

SpoilerTHAT BAD?!
LOL, actually I could have lived with Angela and Dex living happily ever after because I liked her character so much but one thing about Dexter that always bummed me was his lack of connection to humanity.Comment
