Re: Favorite Movie Based on a Video Game

Oohh, that's a tough one since movies based on video games notoriously suck. I guess Super Mario Bros? It was so bizarrely bad, which almost redeemed it somehow just based on fascination factor. I read a somewhat lengthy article recently about the making of that movie and what a cluster-intimate relations it was.

Re: Favorite Movie Based on a Video Game

Well, there aren't too many good ones. Recently I greatly enjoyed both Tomb Raider and Sonic the Hedgehog. I guess they're my #1 and #2?

Pokémon Detective Pikachu was mediocre but saved by Ryan Reynolds (it may not help that I never really played Pokémon though). I had Rampage on in the background once while grading and didn't pay any attention to it. I'll have to go back and check that one out, but with what I did see I'm wondering if it's something I'd really want to go back to anyway.

 I have not seen the recent Mortal Kombat.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I remember thinking the Assassin's Creed movie had a lot of potential if they did it right, but they of course did not (didn't see it, but you could just tell). It's such an interesting story concept.Comment

I hope it will be Metal Gear Solid if that movie actually ever comes out.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Favorite Movie Based on a Video Game

Resident Evil 1 is a legitimately good movie, regardless of being a video game inspiration. So, I'd go with that one. The newer Tomb Raider movie is also a good candidate.

On the animated side I would go Final Fantasy Advent Children. Kind of cheesy, but having grown up with FF7 it has a special value.

I have a generally positive view of a lot of the video game movies, at least from games that I enjoyed playing. They are bad, but in a good way.

Tomb Raider with Alicia Vikander is definitely a great one. Never cared about the franchise but this movie made me get all 3 TRs on my console in a span of maybe a month, and since then I already finished the first one.Montreal Canadiens
