Re: Microsoft looks ready to launch Windows 11
I hardly notice a difference other than the task bar and the icons I have pinned are now centered instead of aligned left. There's also a multiple desktop feature where I guess you can create different desktops with different applications open and go back and forth between them? So like if I was a kid I could see myself having my school desktop to show my parents I'm only doing school stuff with no games open and then switch to my personal desktop when they leave the room kind of thing...

Re: Microsoft looks ready to launch Windows 11
Saw the Windows 11 chatter heat up and checked to see until when Microsoft would support Windows 10: October 14, 2025.

Thankfully the updates are free. Imagine if Microsoft charged people for upgrading, and ended support for the prior OS not too long after the new release. Aka, the smartphone philosophy.Comment

Re: Microsoft looks ready to launch Windows 11
Been using 10 for a long time now installed it when it was a freebie. I do not care if Microsoft supports what I am using so long as I can still use it I will not go to 11. My computer doesn't support it anyway. I don't game on it I only use it for web surfing paying bills trading things like that. No intention of forking over 500 bucks just to keep doing what I am currently doing. Who knows what they will do.Comment

Re: Microsoft looks ready to launch Windows 11
That seems far but also not that far. Maybe its because I only got windows 10 a few years back after wanting to stick with windows 7 as long as I could.

I still feel the same way now as I did back then. I want to stick with windows 10 as long as I can.
Maybe there's more basic ways to do it, but something like renaming a file. I'm used to just right clocking, selecting rename, then name it. But from what I've seen on windows 11, you have to right click, select a different option, then within that option is rename. Sure, you could also use keys as a shortcut, but seems like even the most basic of things are now using different steps.
Don't know if it's still around too, but I hate tab grouping. If I have 3 different folders open, I want to see all 3 folders on my taskbar, especially if I'm dragging files from one to the other.
Just sucks to discontinue windows 10 support when windows 12 isn't out yet. In my experience, I've liked every other version.
XP was good, didn't like Vista, 7 was good, didn't line 8, 10 was good, didn't like 11.
But using 10 is still ok after this support ends, you just run the risk of your system being more vulnerable to viruses since there's no back end updates anymore.
The next laptop I get won't be until windows 12 comes out anyways, whenever that is, so hopefully I can avoid 11 altogether.Last edited by Majingir; 02-26-2025, 04:56 PM.Comment

Re: Microsoft looks ready to launch Windows 11
Windows 11 is alright, but that thing you mentioned is definitely an inconvenience, can't never leave things as they are, making changes nobody asked for.
I currently have two main computers, a laptop with Windows 11 and my desktop with Windows 10. Calendar works out nice for me, after the end of the baseball regular season and fantasy baseball I can make the switch before the 15th.
Funny thing, that same desktop already automatically upgraded once to Windows 11, the main reason I went back to Windows 10 was precisely because Microsoft upgraded me without my explicit consent. I was apoplectic.Last edited by Master Live 013; 02-26-2025, 11:20 PM.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment
