Video Games That Would Work As Movies
What are some video games (that HAVENT been made into a movie just yet) that would work as a film version? I feel like Dead by Daylight would be a good attempt at one, as long as it stayed faithful to the game.Last Movie Watched: Morbius (2022).
Last TV Show Watched: MARVEL's What If?...(S3:E7).

Re: Video Games That Would Work As Movies
That's a tough question. These are the ones that I think are very doable:
Mass Effect is the easy one to me. I could extend that to pretty much any of the old Bioware games (especially KOTOR), but Mass Effect would be great.
Red Dead Redemption could also be really good. The Western genre has become nearly extinct, but I think RDR could still make for a good one. Especially RDR2
Gears of War, plenty of potential. If nothing else it could be a really great action movie.
The Last of Us kind of speaks for itself.
There are a lot of great video game stories, but I think that many of them are hard to adapt into a live action movie. -

I can see Half Life being made with Bryan Cranston as the lead.

Re: Video Games That Would Work As Movies
I'm sure it has been made into a movie or something at some point, but I want to see the legend of zelda games made into a movie.
The games do have some nice stories in them, and a live action one would be like a mix of superhero and game of thrones styled stuff.
And I know it has been made into a movie already, but I want to see Warcraft (specifically 3) made into a movie. I only ever played Warcraft 2 and 3, but the story for Warcraft 3 was so cool. Especially the "heel turn".Comment

Re: Video Games That Would Work As Movies
I think the answer for me is none of them.
The casting is almost never what I imagine when video games become television or movies. One of the most recent examples is The Witcher. I think they got Geralt, Yennifer, and Ciri right but their choice for Triss just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Books being adapted to movies or games is a lot different to me than video games because you already know what someone is supposed to look like from playing the video games. Once you get three games deep and are used to a certain look and voice the live action version is never the same.
Silent Hill, Doom, Max Payne, Hitman, Need for Speed, Assasin's Creed, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, etc.. almost every game made after a video game just seems to be forgettable.
Resident Evil is okay but most examples I can think of aren't worth the hassle.
If they go and try to make a Mass Effect movie all they are going to do is make a lot of people angry at the end of the day.Last edited by AUChase; 07-15-2021, 02:59 PM.Comment

Mirrors Edge
With all the amazing Parkour peeps out there they can make a sick action movie.
Zelda
This would need to take a lot of money but it could seriously become an epic if you get the right people behind it.Comment

Writing and directing are everything, any character and story can be great with the right script. The biggest impediment to success would be gatekeeping fans of the games of course.Jordan Mychal Lemos
@crypticjordan
Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Video Games That Would Work As Movies
"In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war".
This question popped back in my head recently, and I don't know why I didn't think of this before. I guess I just approached the question by thinking about RPGs and individual stories that would make for good movies.
Warhammer 40k
Perhaps this would work better as a series instead of a 1 shot movie since the entire universe is about a never ending war, but I would love to see it get some kind of cinematic treatment. The games are based off a franchise whose library of books rivals or maybe even exceeds that of Star Wars legends, and there is plenty of room to create an entirely new story as well.
It would definitely require a budget, but I think it could be a lot of fun.Comment
