Re: Favorite Superman Movie
Superman II (1980) with a couple of great Diner Bully scenes and Terence Stamp cast perfectly as General Zod. The "General, would you care to step outside?" line was powerful but the city fight was constrained by that era's special effects. I'm not sure the amnesia hypnosis was necessary after all the lovebirds had been through. -
Re: Favorite Superman Movie
Man of Steel, hands down.
With all due respect to Christopher Reeve, it's the first Superman movie I wasn't bored with, no corny scenes, no magic tricks, worthy opponents plus great battle scenes (loved the Battle of Smallville). You actually see Kal learning to control his powers and slowly becoming Superman. Fans complaining about him killing Zod or all the destruction never read the comics (especially when he fought Doomsday).Comment

Re: Favorite Superman Movie
I was 9 when Superman The Movie came out.
I must have seen it 7 times in the theater. My mom and dad took me every weekend for almost 2
Months (back then is was a $1.50 a ticket). Superman was my hero as a kid.
That movie made me believe a man can fly. So awesome for its time. I grew up watching reruns of Superman the BW series with George Reeves
And Batman and Robin with Adam West and Dick Ward.
So it is a tie between Superman and Superman II as I love both movies.
Man of Steel is also awesome. Loved it. But Christopher Reeves Superman holds a special place in my heart and my childhood.

Re: Favorite Superman Movie
Funny....I remember I read the novelization of Superman III before I saw the movie. The book was actually damn good. Then I saw the movie....it was kinda of a mess. Cheaper effects....uneven story.
Watched it a few months ago....and enjoyed the heck out of it.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Favorite Superman Movie
So I'm 34 and have actually never seen any of these Superman movies but this thread inspired me to download them all so I've started the first Superman movie from 1978 and I'm just dying at these shiny suits and special effects in the beginning. Can't wait to see how corny this movie gets. I'm sure it would've been more appreciated if I saw it in the 90's but oh well.Comment

Re: Favorite Superman Movie
Superman 1 and 2 are really good for there time. I have a hard time watching a lot of older movies. The other 2 of the older ones are not that good. Man of steel gets my vote. I find man of steel enjoyable but also very flawed. Hated what they did with Jonathan Kent. But great music and action and love what they did with his biological dad.Comment

Re: Favorite Superman Movie
Every non-action scene in Man of Steel is good, and I can look past the revisionist history of the character and the Kent's. Every action scene in Man of Steel is bad in my opinion, specifically the fighting.
I haven't seen any other Superman movie in full. I've seen most of Superman Returns and seen bits and pieces of Superman whilst knowing the whole story. I haven't seen Superman's sequels.
I've found every Superman actor to be awesome for what I've seen, but the character itself is a tough sell for me. "How do you write for Jesus?" comes to mind with his films for me.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
