I saw a meme that summed up MTV pretty well, I think it said "happy 40 years MTV, thanks for 15 years of music!" lol

I’m surprised MTV is still alive. Who watches it anyway?

It was great though when I was a kid.

Pretty sad they don’t do more for a tribute for how they defined a generation and instead put on a ****ty show for 24 hours.

Apparently that's literally all they show, with a few shows sprinkied in throughout the week.

I miss the days of Celebrity Deathmatch, Sifl and Olly and Viva La Bam.

            Re: MTV's 40th Anniversary

About 7 years ago my cable company took out MTV and other related channels from all their offerings. I was so incensed, for about 5 seconds, since I remembered that I didn't really watch MTV anymore and it made me a bit sad.

There's one channel of MTV (not sure what is called) that only shows music videos. They have a Total Request Playlist show that's all the videos from when Total Request Live was huge. There's an 80s show, hip hop, etc. It's pretty great.

                Re: MTV's 40th Anniversary

Woke up and went to bed with MTV as a teenager in the 80’s.

Friday night concerts, MTV top 10 Video Countdown (Home Sweet Home held the record for most consecutive weeks at #1….seemed like years).

When Michael Jacksons Thriller video came out it was a huge thing!!!

Those were great times. Then in the mid 90’s it all died.

                Was great while it lasted.
