    Blink 182 "Breaks Up"

Not that many people care, and I actually don't much either, but thought it was post worthy. Their newer stuff was definitely nowhere near their old stuff.

    Blink 182

Confirming recent speculation that something was amiss in the Blink-182 camp, the band Tuesday announced it was going on an indefinite hiatus "to spend some time enjoying the fruits of their labors with loved ones." In a statement, the trio added, "While there is no set plan for the band to begin working together again, no one knows what tomorrow may bring."

Rumors that the band had split began circulating after Friday's all-star tsunami benefit concert in Anaheim, Calif. Blink was scheduled to play but pulled out of at the last minute due to "unexpected circumstances."

Fuel was added to the flames when Dave Navarro, who performed at the benefit with his cover band Camp Freddy, posted on his blog that Blink didn't perform because they had broken up. He later clarified his posting, saying, "I shouldn't repeat things that aren't confirmed and I apologize to the band and their fans. Honestly, it was a mistake."

Blink's four studio albums and one live set have sold a combined 10.7 million copies in the United States to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group has posted 10 top 10 hits on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, including the No. 1s "All the Small Things" and "I Miss You."

When was the last time they came out with an album?

Their last album was very good. Finally started to "grow up" in a good way("Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" was somewhat more mature, but with a name like that, you can tell it's not all that mature). They showed signs of growing up, could have turned out like a quasi-Green Day if they put out a few more albums.

Oh well, not gonna lose sleep over it, but I will miss hearing a new album from them every 2-3 years...

Eh, they'll still be around, they all have their side projects. The best of which is The Transplants.

Novemeber 18, 2003 according to amazon.

This is sad. One of the bands I have actually managed to listen to for years now. Been listening to them since the days of Dude Ranch. Well, here's one for you.

IMO, the appeal of blink 182 was the fact that the songs/band were raw and immature. As the band aged and eventually matured, I knew they couldn't keep the immature image and material up forever, which is what the band was all about.

But it won't be Blink 182. I can't name any bands who have broken up and produced more than one group as good as the original(and most never do anything close to what they did in their original group). I don't really care for their sideprojects, I really liked their last album and I wish we could be able to see what they were going to do next.

Like I said, not a really big deal, I wasn't their biggest fan, but it always sucks when any group worth listening to breaks up.
