IMO, the appeal of blink 182 was the fact that the songs/band were raw and immature. As the band aged and eventually matured, I knew they couldn't keep the immature image and material up forever, which is what the band was all about.

I agree, their immature catchy punk/pop songs are what drew me to them when I was younger. But just about the time I gave up on them thinking they would try to be stuck in high school forever, they put out their last album which was a great step for them, a very good album. Who knows what their next step would have been, it may have been terrible, might have been good. They couldn't be immature forever, but they(IMO) successfully matured with their last album and I think they could have gone on like Green Day and made many more mature, good albums.

I actully listen to practially all rap but i actually liked Blink 182.

I liked Blink but they have been together for so long and they have kids now and it seems like they are still singing about high school issues. I own a lot of their cds and was a fan for a while but its not that much of a surprise that they broke up.

Just because you may not like blink 182, you do not have to come into this thread and belittle those that are fans of the band. I'm sure you know its more than "power chords" which make a band successful or a hit. Its obvious blink 182's antics and material was a major hit with college aged listeners and younger.

I think their best Cd was definitely Dude Ranch, and they went downhill from there. When you have songs about screwing dogs up the butt and "Family Reunion" where they just put a bunch of cuss-words together, you aren't going to last.

I'm actually surprised they lasted this long.

this sucks...I'm a big Blink fan. They've got their stupid songs but they've also got ones that are more serious. I hope they just need some time off rather than this being final.
