Live TV Streaming Services (YouTube TV, DirecTV Stream, etc.)

Are any of you currently using any of the 'live TV streaming' options for your primary television viewing (such as YouTubeTV, DirecTV Stream, etc.)? I'm interested in your experiences with it, as I'm considering a move given the ever-escalating prices of standard cable TV and similar options.

In particular, I'm wondering how the experience is watching sports, as that is my primary TV-watching, and I'm particularly sensitive/annoyed by stuttering and pausing. I'm used to the instantaneous nature of cable TV and being able to switch seamlessly and instantly among multiple shows/games on different channels without any lag. Any hiccups in that department would really affect my day-to-day viewing experience.

Anyway, interested in any experiences you may have had with any of the live streaming services.

As long as you have a solid internet connection, there has not been any issues with my use of YouTube TV, going on 2+ years now. The only negative is that stream will always be 20-40 seconds behind, so if you're texting or on the phone with a friend who has cable, that friend will spoil the next play for you because they're seeing it 30 seconds before you. Other than that, I haven't really had any issues with watching sports.

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts, acles003. Can I ask what (ballpark) your internet connection speeds are?

I've had YTTV more than a year now and really like it.

One thing you do lose going to streaming is the ability to rapidly switch between games. With U-Verse, I could press the last button on the remote to switch back and forth between two games almost instantaneously. With YTTV it will buffer for a few seconds when you switch channels.

Once in a blue moon it will buffer in the middle of a game/program for a second or two, but that's been really rare for me. Overall, the picture quality looks better to me on YTTV than it did on U-Verse.

I have Xfinity. 1GB down, 40 Mbps up. But I meant more like your tv or fire stick or Roku has a strong connection to your WiFi router.

Try restarting and updating the fire cube. Guessing you already did that. Your internet speed is OK I guess?

Some time ago I had a seven-day free trial with YouTube TV but found the DVR interface too clunky.
