Survivor 43

Gabler reading this season like a book. He sees where the cards are falling with Cody and Jesse. He spoke too much at tribal though. He’s gonna go from an asset for competing blocs to a target of them once they realize how important he is. He’s got an immunity win and set in motion the ousting of Elie and partially Jeanine. Solid resume.

But Cody and Jesse are the front runners now. Thought it was strange how quickly Sami’s name disappeared after they all agreed he’s playing all sides, which is usually a sure fire way to get voted out. I think he’ll be a target next week, but there’s bigger fish to fry now and he could skate by. I think he’s playing a pretty masterful game, but he needs to lead the charge to knock off the front runners if he wants to be considered for first place. Owen and Sami have seemingly done little to nothing in the game so far besides vote how they’re told to. I suppose Sami gets partial credit for getting James out, but Noelle really led and sealed that, though Sami’s convinced Karla to go with them.

Owens voting history has been so bad.

Of the last 4 votes he has had, only 1 time he's voted out the right person.

On that note, only Cody, Sami, Jesse have voted correctly at every tribal they've been in. Cody leading the way with 7 correct votes.

And that’s exactly why none of those 3 will get to the final. It’s between Karla and Gabler IMO, they’re threats but not as threatening as those 3 guys. So let the top eat itself, then when there’s one of them left, they get ganged up on and voted out.

I didn’t realize that one of Jesse’s idols was actually Cody’s. That makes things a bit murkier. AFAIK, only Jesse’s idol is truly a secret. So he knows Karla has one and Cody has one, but they don’t know he does. Seems ripe for a blindside on what would seem to be an easy vote. Will be wild if Jesse and Cody/Karla team up to use their idols together and get one of the other out.

Shaping up to be a great finale. This has been one of my favorite seasons, especially of the last 10 or so seasons.

It all depends on how it finishes.

S41 was a good one minus the winner. S42 I did enjoy too, but it didn't feel like it stood out as a great season.

But the 40s have been better than the mid-late 30s, especially 35,38,39 (although, as much as I liked David vs Goliath, the winner fell flat for me)

She had an idol and received multiple votes. She thought she was gonna be voted out with an idol.

I guess what I mean is, why did she display her emotion for tribal to see? Usually you keep that to yourself unless you're making a statement of some sort

I took it like she was upset with the vote not going her way. She's not really going to lose anything as she isn't part of the group. It's not great but they know she isn't stupid so they wouldn't be blindedand fooled by her acting.

A tribal with an interesting possibility.

If Sami won the shot in the dark, that means Sami, Owen, Karla, Cody are safe.

Would Jesse have played his idol resulting in Cassidy being idoled out?

Does Jesse risk it and not play it and hope the re vote goes his way even though it's a 50-50 shot?

Does Karla suddenly play her idol for Cassidy forcing Jesse out?

eventually we're gonna get to the point where there are so many immunities and idols that Jeff himself is gonna half to vote players out.

that underwater challenge, ugh I hate watching that, it's crazy they were able to compete so long that the tide actually receded, that's amazing

I forgot Gabler exists in my scenario, Cassidy wouldn't be idoled out, but even then, a 1 in 3 shot of going home, if I'm Jesse, I'd play it regardless.

One of his idols is technically Cody's, so if he plays one, Cody will know he either has another, he played Cody's idol.

If there was a time for Jesse to cut Cody, it would be this tribal.

Cody out, down to 5, Jesse plays the idol the last time it's possible, he gets into the F4.

I would have been out in like 10 minutes on that challenge. 2 hours is insane. That thing was pretty much a torture device.

I keep getting distracted during the episode and missing most of it. Was this the first time they’ve done that challenge since Fans vs. Favorites? The season Parvati won.

But yeah, I don’t know how long I would be able to handle that. Legitimately like being waterboarded.

It happened on Caramoan as well and Palau.

It's weird how this feels like an old school staple, yet this challenge has only happened 3 times before.

It feels like they've had it so many times before. For all the similar challenges we see that usually just revolve around doing a puzzle, throwing something, balancing and climbing, there's some challenges like this that would be cool to see often.

So we’re at the final 6 with 2 reps from each of the beginning tribes. There are 3 idols in play right now, I believe. Cody, Jesse, and Karla. I believe Jesse gave Cody his idol back, but afaik the idol Jesse has was one Dwight gave him in the switcheroo but then was voted out, so no one knows he’s got it. Karla’s idol is an open secret I believe (she told Cassidy and others have deduced it down) and Cody’s I think only Jesse knows about.

Jesse has a chance to take control of this game if he plays his cards right and wins an immunity. If not, I think he’s been marked and will be gunned for by the others. But with potentially half being able to protect themselves, plus whoever wins immunity, we could have a vote for just 2 unprotected players — two of Gabler, Cassidy, Owen if one of them wins immunity.

These last couple episodes will be great. Do we know if it’s a top 3 or top 2? Is there an assured fire challenge or anything?
