After seeing how bad Jesse's fire making skills was I'm not so sure about that. I know Gabler went fast, but that was a pitiful effort. Seems like it came down to Cass' lack of a "big move". Her getting exactly 1 more vote than Owen seems about right.

Is Jesse's performance bad, or just looked bad based on how quick Gabler did it?

I think he looked bad because how quickly Gabler was able to win. I've seen some of those where 20 minutes in and both are still struggling to even get fire at all.

Interesting thought on the ending in hindsight.

Jesse's blindside of Cody was a game winning move, but it also ironically cost him the chance to get to the end.

If Jesse didn't play the idol and still got Cody out, and Karla keeps her idol, the F4 winds up Karla, Owen, Gabler, Jesse.

Does Jesse make it to the end in that scenario and win?

I think they should go back to final 2. The third person that got tagged alone never gets a vote.

That's what I've been wanting, but then the F2 might lead to more floaters being taken to F2 again.

Although, I wonder if they'd ever consider F2 but a firemaking challenge at F3.

Whoever wins immunity is safe, the other 2 simply battle it out.

Ha, ok now that was bad.

It does seem pretty smart that they built up their little wood stack first. What seemed bad to me with Jesse is even with he got a flame going his movement just seemed so slow and he never got past the grass and the smallest of wood chips

The 3rd person is generally the floater that everyone knows they can beat. Then they go to final 2 and the 2 people getting votes are just competing to see who wins in the immunity challenge and the money. It's probably better than leaving it to the jury but then it makes the finally boring.

The firemaking at 3 would be interesting and may get the top 2 players to the end instead of the floater.

Maybe they do something crazy and have survival challenge at the end with 3 or 4. Have to survive on your own, first one to quit leaves and others go to final.
They could also add the fire making challenge with top 2 vote getters at each tribal having to make fire to see who stays. That would make relationships very important but also give you a way to survive without a bunch of idols.

I never thought I see it go 43 seasons. What an accomplishment
