    Beetlejuice 2 (2024)

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced a September 6th 2024 release date for the sequel to Tim Burton’s iconic 1988 supernatural comedy “Beetlejuice”.

Burton and Michael Keaton will return as director and star respectively, with filming set to begin shortly in the UK. “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega is said to be up for the role of the daughter of Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder), whilst Justin Theroux has joined the cast.

Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jones, Catherine O’Hara and Glenn Shadix also starred in the original film which grossed $80 million from a $15 million budget and is often considered one of Burton’s most iconic films.

It followed a deceased married couple who call on the services of the obnoxious and mischievous poltergeist to scare away the new residents of their former home.

The new project has been in development for over three decades, with Burton initially planning to set the sequel in Hawaii. Plot specifics are under wraps though the Hawaiian element is likely gone.

Keaton will reprise the role and as he’s caked in make-up to look 150 years old, he shouldn’t look that much different from his earlier incarnation.

The film marks a return of Burton to feature directing four years after helming Disney’s live-action “Dumbo” adaptation.

It's going to be hard to recapture the cult status of the original, but it could still be fun.

Keaton coming back is going to be great and always excited for Jenna Ortega.

100% disagree with this...there are a lot of movies that should have been a 1 time thing as that perfect moment had been captued (imo) and The Lost Boys falls into that category as far as I'm concerned.

As far as the horror genre is concerned, remakes should NOT happen (again imo) as they are usually utter garbage and only are remade to capitalize on the name itself...ala Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St. The Omen just to name a few.

As I understand it David Gordon Green is doing a reboot of the Exorcist!! are you f'n kidding me? This film in no way needs a "reboot" especially from this dude who agin IMO absolutely destroyed the Halloween movies that started with 2018.

Halloween kills and Ends were absolute garbage I felt, while 2018 was not bad.

Willem Dafoe has also reportedly been added to the cast, as a "law enforcement officer in the afterlife".

So I'm assuming he's gonna be an afterlife detective that's trying to bring Beetlejuice in.

For the most part I agree with you.

Halloween Kills......was damn good. Halloween Ends was a complete embarrassment to end what I felt were damn good alternate arcs with 2018 and Kills.

The Lost Boys should never be touched.....I can understand if you want a sequel arc.....ok...whatever. But a reboot? **** that. Get some new idea’s Hollywood.....you are recycling like crazy and it sucks.

I have heavily gotten into foreign horror movies since Netflix came around and man...there is so much great horror overseas....ton’s of it.

I will agree that Kills had some good Kills, BUT what absolutely killed the movie for me was the inclusion of Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle and the whole "evil dies tonight" garbage that had to be repeated 95 times throughout the movie.

The first thing that comes to mind when mentioning AMH is his 80's movies and those movies were great I thought....hell Vacation, Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and so on...never would I have ever expected him to be in a Halloween movie...hell it was hard for me to accept Paul Rudd in Halloween The Curse of Michael Myers.

Ok so the hospital scene was god awful and the worst part of Kills. But all the flashbacks to the original were tremendous….and for me other than the second act at the hospital….I really enjoyed the brutality of Kills.

                Ends is a massive POS.

The wife and I rewatched Kills last night, and I totally agree the hospital parts were pretty bad, while I did enjoy the flashbacks, I felt that there was no "flow" to the movie, it seemed that the scenes would jump all over the place without making much sense....wait, does that make sense?

I also agree 100% about Ends as well...an absolute POS movie that should never have been made the way it was to conclude the Michael/Laurie storyline.
